EVENT: SPACE PIRATES ▒ OXYGEN GARDENS

CHARACTERS: Ensemble production!
LOCATION: Oxygen Gardens
WARNINGS: Camping.
SUMMARY: Hanging out in camp, discussing pirates, etc.
NOTES: Open to all!

Camping may not be an expected activity on a spaceship, but the gardens are large and have clear, grassy areas for people to gather together. You can help set up tents, inventory supplies or guard the perimeter — just keep an eye out for any strange faces trying to sneak in...

I might be young, but a lot of skilled people are very young. I'm not anything special.

[She focuses her attention on Buttercup now, at how nice he's being and how he's gently sniffing at Charles' hand. It brings a smile to her face, to know that there's someone out there that her cat can make a good first impression with.]

Do you have a job here on the ship?

I'd disagree.

[ It takes a very different person to be able to handle the medical field. He's very glad the cat hasn't lashed out at him. He can't be certain why, but perhaps it is his calmer demeanor which is to his advantage. ]

I do. I work in the science department. Genetics, specifically. I spend my time in a lab.

[ He'd be the first to admit it isn't for everyone. ]

A lab?

[Well, it's interesting to her. Curious, at least. She stops watching Buttercup now and stares up and over at Charles with great interest.]

Do you ever make new things in your lab? [That question comes out sounding almost fearful or accusatory, so she bites at the inside of her cheek as a silent scold to herself, reminding her that most people here have no idea why she's so paranoid about certain things.]

It's just that where I'm from, the Capitol was able to change things. People and animals, they did it in their labs. They didn't do many good things with it, but I hope that the lab here does.

Yes, I -- I am more of the study sort versus the mad scientist sort.

[ So far, he hasn't noticed anything suspicious with his coworkers, but he stays out of their business, in general. ]

We're nothing like that. We're here to help, not unlike you.

[That pulls a smile out of her. She likes thinking of it like that.]

What kind of things does a geneticist do here? There's a lot of different people here you can study. I thought I might try doing that, to make a book about different species and how to best treat them.

I study the things here - and the things that may appear. Like the rats in the other labs.

[ He considers what she said. ]

That would be an extremely useful idea. Not just for you, but for others down in the medical department. They are always in need of information like that.

[Study is okay, she thinks. Nothing bad can come from studying.]

Do you think they'd take it seriously? Really seriously? [She has her doubts.]

Maybe once I finish, you could read it and tell me what you think. Help me find any mistakes and tell me if I'm doing it right at all.

I think they should take it seriously, and would have a hard time not doing such. [ He personally finds any information one can get about this place to be valuable and important. ]

I'd be happy to read over it, though. I'd be honored, even.
