eighteenth jump;

CHARACTERS: any and all
LOCATION: Gravity Couches and beyond
WARNINGS: maybe some swearing, or even some violence, and more than likely some implied (and possibly explicit) nakedness.
SUMMARY: Another month, another jump, another round of new faces.
NOTES: Keeping up with the tradition and copy pasted like always from the last one

You wake up in darkness.

There's a breathing tube jammed down your trachea, and you're suspended in a tube of clear blue fluid. Upon registering your level of consciousness, the gravity couch drains the fluid surrounding you and retracts the breathing apparatus; the doors in front of you open, and you're deposited on the floor of a stark, sterile medical bay.

You are not alone.

There are others who have come before you, others who are awakening beside you. Some may be familiar to you, perhaps even friends. Others have much less amiable plans. Some are merely alien and inexplicable, but there are always those who might mean you harm.

After you catch your breath and your vision returns, you notice a number on the inside of your forearm. Maybe it's a familiar number. Maybe it means something. Maybe it's just a number. But the number—completely unique to you—is a tattoo, and it does not come off.

If you enter the room adjacent to the medbay, you will find a small locker with your number on it, surrounded by rows upon rows of identical lockers. Inside, you will find a few of your personal items, a communications device, and a ship's uniform in your exact size. The comms device is fully powered and connects directly to the ship's network; it's your only means of communication beyond physical conversation. Upon turning the device on, a neutral, automated voice will say, "Please take the blue lift to the passenger quarters." Any other attempts at communicating with the rest of the network are met only with static.

This is your welcome party.

Bela. [Mike nods, trying to cover up what he can on his nethers. There's not much else he can do besides go get cleaned up, bandaged, and see what else she has to say. Still, he'll keep his gaze averted.]

Agent Mike Banning.

[He'd shake her hand, but his are kind of busy right now.]

[She's not embarrassed nor does she try to cover herself up because she's been through this so many times and being modest was pointless. Out of politeness Bela won't stare at him but a brief glance earlier had told her that he was fit.]

Good to meet you Agent Banning. Or do you prefer Mike?

[As she asks the question Bela gestures ahead of her with a hand to show him where they had to go.]

Last name's just fine, ma'am. [He follows her gesture and moves out toward the showers, making sure to keep everything necessary covered. He's not exactly comfortable moving in front of her, but it's not for physical reasons. He's built for the job he's serving and the requirements for Secret Service agents have never been slack.]

Then you can drop the ma'am. You don't have to call me that anymore.

[Because it was beginning to make her feel a lot older than what she was. A few minutes a later and they arrived out the showers just like Bela said they would. To her left were some towels that he could use and in the shower itself were a few toiletries that he could avail of.]

[It's going to be a little difficult to get out of his system but he nods. Took a while for him to stop calling his now-wife ma'am, and Jacobs all the same. The sight of the showers, though is welcome enough for him to feel just an inch more comfortable.]

Oh this is gonna feel good. [Because on top of the jump, he's been fighting his own personal war for the past twelve or so hours.]

You'll feel miles better. [She did whenever she had a shower post-jump but there was always one snag.]

The nausea and dizziness will take longer to fully go away and your mind won't feel so fuzzy. I recommend chewing on some peppermint to help alleviate the nausea; there's some in the medical bay in a drawer.

I can handle it ma--- [He cuts himself off. She'd asked him to stop calling her ma'am, not that it's easy to fight habit. So he'll just step into the shower and start scrubbing himself down. The nausea and dizziness are both intense but he's resolved to be a TOUGH GUY!!! and not talk about it.]

[Meanwhile, Bela just steps into an empty cubicle to wash the offending goop off, deciding not to answer him. She did swear by the peppermint and arguably, even the toughest guy may need help with dealing with nausea. But it was up to him whether or not he wanted to try the peppermint for himself.]
