eighteenth jump;

CHARACTERS: any and all
LOCATION: Gravity Couches and beyond
WARNINGS: maybe some swearing, or even some violence, and more than likely some implied (and possibly explicit) nakedness.
SUMMARY: Another month, another jump, another round of new faces.
NOTES: Keeping up with the tradition and copy pasted like always from the last one

You wake up in darkness.

There's a breathing tube jammed down your trachea, and you're suspended in a tube of clear blue fluid. Upon registering your level of consciousness, the gravity couch drains the fluid surrounding you and retracts the breathing apparatus; the doors in front of you open, and you're deposited on the floor of a stark, sterile medical bay.

You are not alone.

There are others who have come before you, others who are awakening beside you. Some may be familiar to you, perhaps even friends. Others have much less amiable plans. Some are merely alien and inexplicable, but there are always those who might mean you harm.

After you catch your breath and your vision returns, you notice a number on the inside of your forearm. Maybe it's a familiar number. Maybe it means something. Maybe it's just a number. But the number—completely unique to you—is a tattoo, and it does not come off.

If you enter the room adjacent to the medbay, you will find a small locker with your number on it, surrounded by rows upon rows of identical lockers. Inside, you will find a few of your personal items, a communications device, and a ship's uniform in your exact size. The comms device is fully powered and connects directly to the ship's network; it's your only means of communication beyond physical conversation. Upon turning the device on, a neutral, automated voice will say, "Please take the blue lift to the passenger quarters." Any other attempts at communicating with the rest of the network are met only with static.

This is your welcome party.

[ By now, Jack's put the pieces together. The number on his arm says he's been gone for five months. It doesn't feelalways be here. It is one of the few constants that Jack knows he has on this ship.

And so, he spins around with as much flair as he can muster up, arms at his sides and grins.

Miss me, mate?

I'll be damned.

[he just shakes his head, and his hands go to his hips. he's seen a few people come back, hell Bones had come back, but it's still almost like seeing a ghost. not for the first time, he isn't sure if he should believe it.]

It really is you, isn't it?

[ooc: Last part was supposed to read:

"It doesn't feel like five months, because he didn't go home in the intern, but he can not deny the proof that is tattooed onto his arm. A tattoo that reads 018 instead of 002.

But the voice of James Kirk is not one he has forgotten. Kirk has been here longer than Jack himself has. Jack did not wonder if Kirk was still here because he assumes Kirk will always be here. It's one of the few constants Jack knows he has on this ship."

Just in case, you know. You were curious. /ooc

'course it's me, mate.

[ Granted, yes, he could have forgotten everything and come back without any memories. He wouldn't have been the first person that happened to, and he wouldn't have been the last. But he feels cheated enough as it is, have been gone for five months without going home. The idea of coming back without memories is easily twice as worse as never leaving at all. ]

Who else 'd I be?

Your evil twin.

[though he doesn't really want to know what an alternate Jack Sparrow would be like. this guy was a handful as it is. the fact that he knew Jim was promising, though. the more that came back with their memories in tact, the better, if they came back at all. regardless:]

It's been a while.
