eighteenth jump;
CHARACTERS: any and all
LOCATION: Gravity Couches and beyond
WARNINGS: maybe some swearing, or even some violence, and more than likely some implied (and possibly explicit) nakedness.
SUMMARY: Another month, another jump, another round of new faces.
NOTES: Keeping up with the tradition and copy pasted like always from the last one
You wake up in darkness.
There's a breathing tube jammed down your trachea, and you're suspended in a tube of clear blue fluid. Upon registering your level of consciousness, the gravity couch drains the fluid surrounding you and retracts the breathing apparatus; the doors in front of you open, and you're deposited on the floor of a stark, sterile medical bay.
You are not alone.
There are others who have come before you, others who are awakening beside you. Some may be familiar to you, perhaps even friends. Others have much less amiable plans. Some are merely alien and inexplicable, but there are always those who might mean you harm.
After you catch your breath and your vision returns, you notice a number on the inside of your forearm. Maybe it's a familiar number. Maybe it means something. Maybe it's just a number. But the number—completely unique to you—is a tattoo, and it does not come off.
If you enter the room adjacent to the medbay, you will find a small locker with your number on it, surrounded by rows upon rows of identical lockers. Inside, you will find a few of your personal items, a communications device, and a ship's uniform in your exact size. The comms device is fully powered and connects directly to the ship's network; it's your only means of communication beyond physical conversation. Upon turning the device on, a neutral, automated voice will say, "Please take the blue lift to the passenger quarters." Any other attempts at communicating with the rest of the network are met only with static.
This is your welcome party.

[ but the she eyes him, starts tugging her hair closer. ]
entirely mine so if you're even thinking about cutting it -
[ she lifts her frying pan >:| ]
no subject
[ he holds his hands up defensively, laughing a little. ]
It's just beautiful, is all. Didn't know if it was even real.
no subject
[ she puts the frying pan down, an apologetic smile on her lips. ]
Sorry. And thank you! Um. It's not exactly easy to manage, but it's definitely all real.
no subject
No, definitely doesn't look easy to manage. Do you just...brush it?
no subject
[ she laughs, still all awkward and follows his gaze, bites her lip and shrugs her shoulder. ]
Some people said I might need to braid it, but I can't really do it alone.
no subject
[ he asks her without really thinking about it, and when his brain catches up its all sheepish smiles. ]
I mean, I don't really know how, but I could try.
no subject
[ she looks down at her hair, bites her lip, then looks up at him. ]
Have you ever braided...anything before?
no subject
[ it's not like he's got enough hair for that. or...okay, maybe he does, but he's never really had much of an urge to braid it. ]
I could use a spell, though. Can't be too difficult.
no subject
[ she collects her hair to her in instinct yet again, bites her lip a moment after. ]
Um. It's alright. I don't really want my hair...magicked.
[ since it's already sorta is. ]
no subject
[ he looks at the hair, and then the hair that trails past him. ]
Cause that's an awful lot of hair. And it's not like it'll hurt it.

[ and here comes james' wand, as he flicks it over to a stack of towels next to rapunzel. he whispers a wingardium leviosa under his breath as they all lift up in the air and weave in between each other. he brings them over to fly around his head, then around hers, weaving them about almost as if he'd be braiding them - like her hair, even - before setting them back down (not folded, mind you, that'd be a waste of time) back on the bench.
then he just grins. ]
Easy.
no subject
You can do that -- to my hair?
no subject
Only if you'd like.
no subject
Maybe we can try. Um! but be careful.
no subject
[ james gives her a grin, which is meant to be reassuring but he knows too many people who'd call it cheeky.
but even so, he makes sure his movements are slow. measured. just so rapunzel can watch his hands when he moves his wand, says the spell out as clear as he can and just lifts her hair up off the ground.
nothing too fancy yet. ]
no subject
from here, it really does look very long.
no subject
It's bloody incredible, actually. Have you just never had it cut?
