eighteenth jump;

CHARACTERS: any and all
LOCATION: Gravity Couches and beyond
WARNINGS: maybe some swearing, or even some violence, and more than likely some implied (and possibly explicit) nakedness.
SUMMARY: Another month, another jump, another round of new faces.
NOTES: Keeping up with the tradition and copy pasted like always from the last one

You wake up in darkness.

There's a breathing tube jammed down your trachea, and you're suspended in a tube of clear blue fluid. Upon registering your level of consciousness, the gravity couch drains the fluid surrounding you and retracts the breathing apparatus; the doors in front of you open, and you're deposited on the floor of a stark, sterile medical bay.

You are not alone.

There are others who have come before you, others who are awakening beside you. Some may be familiar to you, perhaps even friends. Others have much less amiable plans. Some are merely alien and inexplicable, but there are always those who might mean you harm.

After you catch your breath and your vision returns, you notice a number on the inside of your forearm. Maybe it's a familiar number. Maybe it means something. Maybe it's just a number. But the number—completely unique to you—is a tattoo, and it does not come off.

If you enter the room adjacent to the medbay, you will find a small locker with your number on it, surrounded by rows upon rows of identical lockers. Inside, you will find a few of your personal items, a communications device, and a ship's uniform in your exact size. The comms device is fully powered and connects directly to the ship's network; it's your only means of communication beyond physical conversation. Upon turning the device on, a neutral, automated voice will say, "Please take the blue lift to the passenger quarters." Any other attempts at communicating with the rest of the network are met only with static.

This is your welcome party.

[ Han, you have no idea how lucky you are to have never heard of transporters. They are actually the worst things to ever exist and anyone who tells you different is a liar. ]

Too much to ask for manners from kidnappers. Of course, should have known. [ Let's add another drop of sarcasm there. Yeah, that'll help the situation. ] Not a big fan of getting used to being shoved into a tube of goo every month. No matter what benefits all of you all want to say it has.

(never trust anything that takes you apart and then you have to trust to put you back together again. it isn't natural.)

Oh, did you expect a red carpet before they dumped goo on you? Their mistake. (it's not all that hostile, surprisingly, but it still has some bite to it.)

If you don't have a bad feeling about this, you're not in the right place.

[ maybe one day you'll go through that thing and come out missing your heart or a leg or something. you never know. ]

No, I expected not to be shoved in the thing in the first place. Stuff could suffocate you if that breathing tube isn't properly in. [ his tone isn't so much hostile saying the last sentence as it is blunt. because, honestly, he knows very well how easy that could happen. ]

I have a bad feeling about anything metal that's flying through space. Hearing about a hell ship and you all being scared of a red smiling face doesn't do much to alleviate the worry.

(no molecules need to be broken apart thank you just hurled through space at break neck speeds.)

Buddy, we all have a bad feeling about this.

(he isn't going to comment on the other stuff because really if he does it's just going to make him more irritable.)

[ or maybe just stay on solid ground. that sounds decidedly like a good plan too. ]

Anyone ever tell you that you're horrible at comfort?

Listen buddy, the most I can do to help you is shoot someone. And there isn't anyone around for me to shoot. (so, what're you going to do about it?)
