eighteenth jump;

CHARACTERS: any and all
LOCATION: Gravity Couches and beyond
WARNINGS: maybe some swearing, or even some violence, and more than likely some implied (and possibly explicit) nakedness.
SUMMARY: Another month, another jump, another round of new faces.
NOTES: Keeping up with the tradition and copy pasted like always from the last one

You wake up in darkness.

There's a breathing tube jammed down your trachea, and you're suspended in a tube of clear blue fluid. Upon registering your level of consciousness, the gravity couch drains the fluid surrounding you and retracts the breathing apparatus; the doors in front of you open, and you're deposited on the floor of a stark, sterile medical bay.

You are not alone.

There are others who have come before you, others who are awakening beside you. Some may be familiar to you, perhaps even friends. Others have much less amiable plans. Some are merely alien and inexplicable, but there are always those who might mean you harm.

After you catch your breath and your vision returns, you notice a number on the inside of your forearm. Maybe it's a familiar number. Maybe it means something. Maybe it's just a number. But the number—completely unique to you—is a tattoo, and it does not come off.

If you enter the room adjacent to the medbay, you will find a small locker with your number on it, surrounded by rows upon rows of identical lockers. Inside, you will find a few of your personal items, a communications device, and a ship's uniform in your exact size. The comms device is fully powered and connects directly to the ship's network; it's your only means of communication beyond physical conversation. Upon turning the device on, a neutral, automated voice will say, "Please take the blue lift to the passenger quarters." Any other attempts at communicating with the rest of the network are met only with static.

This is your welcome party.

[Well, that's a relief. Sort of. She can just hear Marty offering some crackpot theory about tracking or something, and that makes her... just a little sad.

After another swipe of her fingers over her face:]
I guess that makes sense. Better... safe than sorry?
glassesonachain: (itty bitty smile)

Exactly.

You really don't want to be dealing with a concussion on top of getting used to this place.

[Hopefully this is the right approximation of a friendly face. Or something. INTERACTION IS HARD, OKAY.]
virginish: (my those quiet eyes become you)

[It's very clearly an approximation, but something about the strained faces of those not used to making them (she assumes) has a way of tugging at Dana's heart, stupid as that sounds. Sympathy is definitely a thing she experiences.]

I'm Dana.

[Because that's what people do, they introduce themselves. Might as well maintain manners aboard an interdimensional spaceship.]
glassesonachain: (Hrm.)

[This is...strange. Why hasn't this girl left yet? Bennett frowns.

People who are so friendly after realizing they've been kidnapped by a spaceship really shouldn't be trusted. Or something.]

Dr. Halverson.

[Hey, this is sort of Dana's role, in a way. She can't help it.]

Dr., huh? Cool, that's -- cool. My best friend is.

[Decapitated by zombies.]

Was. Pre-med.
glassesonachain: (Oh. Well. That's disappointing.)

[personal profile] glassesonachain 2013-05-29 04:35 am (UTC)(link)
[Conversations are unsettling.]

Pre-med can be...difficult.

[Says the girl who looks far too young to actually even be a doctor. She can remember that normal people struggle with the things she finds easy. Sometimes.]
virginish: (i'd rather die than hear goodbye)

[personal profile] virginish 2013-05-30 06:48 am (UTC)(link)
[Chalk it up to new arrival shock that Dana's not picking up on the awkward of all this 100%, maybe.]

That's... how it seemed, yeah.
glassesonachain: ("More like a taser.")

[personal profile] glassesonachain 2013-05-31 04:05 pm (UTC)(link)
[And Bennett probably isn't the best person to be dealing with shocked new arrivals.]

...Are there any people you know that you think might also be here?

I -- don't know. Part of me hopes so, part of me knows that's not fair, part of me just... doesn't know.
