I am told that I am much akin to Elendil. As Isildur is his son, I daresay I resemble him as well.
[ He can't help it: his discomfort seeps into his voice. ]

[He's getting the distinct feeling he's said something wrong, but even as a little clarity returns to him, he does not know what it was he said. Aragorn's ancestors were great men.]

[ He really shouldn't continue from that. Should just take the compliment as it is meant. But Aragorn finds the words bursting out of him anyway- ]

It's far easier to focus on the mechanics of healing than to address Thranduil's words. He hears the sincerity in the Elvenking's voice, and that shocks him to stillness far more than the words. ]
I have not heard many who have fought with Isildur to speak well of him. [ There has only been Elrond, and from him Aragorn has learned naught of Isildur than that the name is a byword for the weakness of Men. ]
I have long feared being akin to him.

Really, what is it about Thranduil and personal questions? ]

[His eyes slide closed in blissful reverie under Aragorn's ministrations. He's not sure if it's the athelas or Aragorn's gentle manner, but it's the first time he's felt safe in...

Rest well, Elvenking, [ a soft murmur, almost a blessing. ] May your dreams be pleasant ones, and dark memories not intrude.
