Jack makes a beeline for Ianto's bedside, smoothing down the bedclothes once he does, checking the other man over, noticing the woozy look on his face, trying to take as much as he can in all at once.] Hey. How're you doing?

I'm having a serious case of deja vu.
[At least he's not dying this time.]

Marty called to say that you had been shot. Martha and the doctors said you'd lost a lot of blood. [Jack doesn't have to say much more to let it be known that his heart was in his throat the whole time, from when he'd gotten that call to when he'd gotten to Ianto's side to when Martha had let him know that Ianto was going to be alright.] Guess the better question I should be asking is how you're feeling. They must have you on the good stuff right now, yeah? [From the way that Ianto's smiling at him, he assumes so.]

I'd promise to be more careful, but I swear I was minding my own business and not sticking my nose anywhere.
[There's genuine regret in his voice. Sometimes he goes looking for trouble, but this was not one of those times. This was just sheer misfortune, and he wonders how best to apologize to Jack for worrying him when it's absurd to apologize for something as benign as going out for a drink.]

Shouldn't be a hole there anymore anyway. Doctors have you patched up, good as new. I suppose you'll get a dashing new scar out of all of this as well. [Scars are another thing that Jack doesn't have himself anymore, so he fixates on them on others. Not as flaws, mind, but as points of interest. Given the placement of this one and the body that it's located on, he's sure to do a lot of fixating, in the future.]

That thought cheers him for a moment until his thoughts circle around to how he got the scar in the first place.]
Did they get him, then? I shot him, I know I did, but he didn't even flinch. And the way he moved... [All wrong, like shooting at shadows.]

Security had been called to it. I was on my way there when I got the call from Marty. That many people on the task, they have to have gotten him by now. [Jack's voice is soft and he doesn't push too hard as he asks:] I can check in on their progress, if you want? You saw who it was, the person who did this?

He was just a kid. I know I've seen him around before. He's been here a while. Just an angry kid with a shotgun, but he- He didn't move right. He just took the hits without any kind of reaction, and then he was right on top of my cover. I barely moved in time.
[He'd avoided a kill shot, but no more than that.]

[Stranger things had happened, especially on this ship, after all. He doesn't want to grill Ianto with too many questions but on the other hand the other man was one of the only ones with a first hand account of what all went on.]
no subject
]At least he thinks it was. It's impossible to know if he can trust the details of his memory right now.]
no subject
I'm just glad you're okay. [he admits to the other man, quietly.]
no subject
Me too. You staying for a while?

In response to Ianto's question, Jack nods.] I had planned on it. Wherever you'll let me. [He wants to curl up against the other man's side and hold him close while he rests. He's not sure if Ianto'll be up for that, though. He really did lose a lot of blood out there.]
