CHARACTERS: Jim Kirk & Raven Darkholme
LOCATION: theee pool.
SUMMARY: Raven's kidnapping Jim and shoving him in the pool, because she can. And because it's fun!
NOTES: Backdated to 4/11, after Jim's network post.
For anyone that's just tuning in, Raven has given Jim Kirk a two hour deadline for getting all of his captainly things in order before she plans on kidnapping him. She thought that was a fair warning, a decent amount of time to allot for that sort of thing, and now she was making good on her promise.
She doesn't really know how this is going to go, how she even wants it to go, but she does know for certain that she could use the distraction just as much as she claims Jim does. Having Charles and Alex on the ship is a good thing, there's no doubt in her mind that it's a good thing. But complicated, yes. Her memories are different than theirs, for whatever reason, and that makes it trickier than it needs to be. According to those memories, Raven has missed out on some huge events and changes, the kinds of things that someone shouldn't just forget. But then, she's been here longer, so maybe there's a reason for the differences. She can't figure out how she feels about any of it though, and she hasn't talked to Erik since before the last jump, so she hasn't had anyone to talk to about it all.
Which is why this distraction, bugging Jim with her need to be ridiculous in the face of responsibility, is definitely needed. Yes. Absolutely necessary. It wasn't anything like running away from her problems at all, no.
She's wearing a shift when she knocks on his door, hidden behind that "normal" mask of hers, but there is a reason for it. Mostly. Again, she really has no idea what they'll end up doing, but she has a vague plan, and that includes her needing to wear a shift for now.
"Your time's up, I'm afraid." Her voice is a little sing-songy, and she's even rocking forward and back on her heels with excitement. "I suggest you come out willingly, because I will use force if necessary."

I can get behind that. [he smiles, gesturing her into the lift ahead of him when it arrives.]

[ When the door shuts behind them, Raven steps right in front of the control panel, hitting the button to get them to the pool deck, then turning around and blocking his view of them all with her torso. She leans back, like it's all very comfortable, even while she's making sure not to hit any other buttons to deter them from the set destination. ]
So, question. It's not the most-fun-ever topic, but. Have you heard anything about people with missing memories here on the ship? Like not of their time here, but.. before?
no subject
he does, of course, try to peek at what floor she hit, but it's only with half the amount of prying he'd generally use. he trusts her, in this, at least, and her question distracts him anyway.]
Someone you know not remembering the same things you do, huh?
no subject
Raven just shakes her head at his question.]
Other way around, actually. I'm exactly one day behind everyone else that showed up here from my world. Which... doesn't seem like a lot, but apparently it was one of life changing days that really shouldn't be just missing from your memory. [ her nose scrunches a bit when she looks up again. ] I thought maybe it was the jumps, that eventually I'd start to remember? But, nothing.

It's possible you were pulled here from a different spot in your universe's timeline.
[it was a conclusion he'd come to as being a possibility after following a few things that happened on board the ship. missing memory, memory relapses. he still couldn't explain what happened to Watson and Holmes, though.]

[ Because it meant her memories wouldn't come back, since she never actually had them. Which was... problematic. And annoying. But! The whole point of this is to avoid thinking of anything that heavy, clear her head for a while by trying her best to clear his. Speaking of which...]
Ah! Close your eyes.
[They were still a few levels away from the pool deck, but she would like to at least be able to pretend that he might not just guess where they're headed. When the doors open, he'll likely smell the chlorine, or worse for her, hear if somebody else is splashing around in the water. But hopefully at this weird hour of the night, nobody will be around. She moves away from the button panel to stand right in front of him, trying her best to look very serious. ]
Go on, shut 'em. [ a pause, a smirk ] ... Oh, and I'm not trying to be cheeky, but you are wearing underwear under that thing, right? This is important.
no subject
when her question comes, though, the grin that splits his face is nothing less than mischevious.]
What if I'm not?
[he was, but just for argument's sake.]

[ She's trying to talk and be cool even while that smile of his makes her smile too, and kinda laugh, and blush, and she's covering his eyes with her hand now for good measure too. Not for long though, not after the door slides open and leaves her with a very short amount of time before he would guess exactly what's going on. Have to act fast!
Which is why she's grabbing his hand and tugging him along again (after telling him to just open his eyes again because trying to guide him there might be harder than she originally thought), their footsteps echoing in the hallway that lead to the pool, past the lockers and the changing rooms.
Raven doesn't stop until they're just a few feet away from the deep end of the giant pool, that same ridiculous smile back on her face because there's nobody here and that makes this whole plan that much better.]
Because. [ as if it hasn't been a good amount of time since he asked that question. she's mostly watching the water as she says this, voice quiet enough to avoid having it carry around the large room. ] Because I plan on stripping you of your jumpsuit and throwing you in the pool. So. If you're not wearing any, you just better hope nobody else decides to go for a swim this late. [ and now she'll sneak a peek his way, but her eyes land on the zipper near his collar before they find his eyes. ]

and that he really wishes he lacked some of the morals that, somewhere in the last few months, he'd picked up. his previous lack of fear of consequences, because under the glow of the lights and the rippled reflection of water on her skin, there's little he wants more than to get them both out of their outfits and into the pool for something much more intimate.
it turns over in his stomach, and he quells it.
but that doesn't stop him leaning forward just slightly, dipping his chin and giving her a sly look]
Good thing I'm not shy.

Raven's fighting the same kind of battle really; her usual MO at this point being to push things in a less innocent direction, leave no time for thought because not thinking was more fun, not thinking meant less worrying. Back home she could afford it; find some guy that makes her feel pretty for what she's not, take risks with him and not worry about whatever might happen after because it didn't matter much since he hadn't ever gotten to see the real her. But here's is different, everything she does counts for something, and with Jim it's different. He does know her and still makes her smile, lets her do these ridiculous things. She won't mess that up.
But she will help him undress, slowly pushing the jumpsuit off his shoulders and tugging at the sleeves, even if it's completely unnecessary. Maybe it's just fun for her, pretending she has that much control of the situation. Whatever. ]
Am I really going to have to throw you in? Or will you go willingly. [ after a second she laughs finally, her hands now at his sides, but she knows better than to actually test herself that much, stepping back and letting him tug off the rest of his jumpsuit on his own. in the meantime she's pulling off her boots and that dress, throwing them somewhere behind him so they don't get wet. hey, if she's insisting he swim in his underwear, she's going to do the same. even if her underwear aren't actually real. she's shorter now with the loss of those three-inch heels, but she's looking at him very seriously (not really, barely holding back another laugh here) when she adds; ] There's no use running now, by the way. I will find you, and catch you, and there will be no dignity in the way I carry you back and toss you in the deep end. None.

[he says, and hops a little on one foot when he gets the rest of his jumpsuit off. he is wearing briefs, black ones provided by the ship, and he tosses his own clothes off toward hers.]
Well I know when I'm fighting a losing battle.
[he says it conversationally- before he jerks forward, and the tables are abruptly turned. Jim gets both hands around her waist before she really has time to push him off, in a flex of biceps he hoists her clear off the ground and throws them both wholly and bodily into the pool with a very loud splash]
no subject
[ Raven has just enough time to yelp a quick protest, her hands instinctively moving to his shoulders to try and avoid the inevitable toss, but it's no use. The water is warmer than she expected it to be at least, though she doesn't manage to fix her hair before swimming back up to the surface, and her bangs are plastered to her forehead as she laughs and splashes around, trying to get her bearings. ]
You brat!
no subject
[Jim corrects, having kicked powerful to the surface (all those required swimming lessons Starfleet had them do really paid off), and he shakes his head. water flies in droplets from his hair, and because he needs a haircut, his hair lays slightly limp against his temples.
but he grins, paddling on the top of the water and swimming a half circle around her.]
no subject
Wuh-whoa. Hang on, hang on, hold still. You've got-- [ she's gesturing vaguely towards his hair, like something's in it or something's wrong with it, a thin lie just to give her a reason to move closer with her hand out like that. she keeps her eyes focused up on that spot until the very last second, when her palm flattens on top of his hair and pushes in an attempt to dunk him under the water. ]
no subject
Wha--
[his question is cut off as she leans her weight onto her hand, and with nothing but water beneath him, Jim goes under with a gurgle. once under, though, he grabs her around the waist and yanks her down with him.]
no subject
she's never been good at acknowledging personal space, both in innocent ways and maybe ones that weren't as much, but this doesn't feel like an intentional play. she's not trying to throw him off or flirt or anything else, just letting herself actually just look at him through the blur. she's never been this close to him before and it's throwing her off in a way she's not used to. not bad, but. surprising. but he has a tendency to have that effect on her, so maybe she shouldn't be so surprised.
a moment later she's pointing up, then pulling back so she can kick once towards the surface, sucking in another breath once she's above water. ]
no subject
it doesn't really show in his face, even if his bright blue eyes stay on her, search that look she gives him like he'll find something in it. an explanation, or maybe what she's seeking when she watches him like that. but before the feeling can engulf him, pull him down and send him running, she points up.
he almost feels as though he's exhaled before he even breaks the surface (and maybe he did) though he, too, gasps once he's above water. and he laughs, and it works to dispel the nervous tension.]
lol ahhh sorry phone tagging is hard ;;
M'sorry, I- I should probably ask before getting handsy, shouldn't I? [ a lame excuse, but she doubts he'll read into it of it means breaking the tension. ] It wasn't... I mean I wasn't trying to be- I just like looking which sounds ridiculous but I don't usually get close enough to anyone to really look at them and I'm just gonna stop.. talking now, mhm.
cutie >(
Honestly it'd probably be weirder if you did ask.
But you know, if you get to look then so should I. [and despite the words, his voice lacks the lewd tone he'd normally throw at a girl. instead, his smile is encouraging.] Fair's fair.
no subject
now is when she would just kiss him. now is when she would flip the switch, less talking more showing, but instead she'll play it safe(..-ish), keeping their faces close but her eyes on his instead of his mouth. even if that's all she's thinking about now. her voice is quiet, challenging sure, but that underlining can I? is very much apparent; ] You're sure that's all you wanna be doing?
no subject
he isn't blind to what she's asking, and if he's honest, his chest aches with the desire to complete the jump. to take that last step (like he always does) and draw her into his talented arms. into his bed. but he keeps it at bay.
he isn't sure why.]
I just want you to know you're safe around me. [he dodges instead]
no subject
Of course, I know that. [ she turns her face to give him a loud kiss on the cheek, wraps her arms around him a little tighter like she's just been wanting to hug him this whole time. behaving isn't in Raven's dictionary, but if it were, she thinks this would be the shining definition of it. ] You're my capta--our captain. I trust you.
[ she makes sure he catches her smile before she tugs away completely, dipping back under the water and letting herself sink for a bit. she gives herself exactly four seconds to blow bubbles and shake her head, as if that releases whatever tension she was feeling a second before, then kicks off towards the edge of the pool, space, self control, space being her motivation in putting some distance between herself and Jim. ]

he paddles idly after her, lazy, floating in the water and enjoying the feel of it against his skin.
he had to admit. it was a pretty damn good break after everything that had been going on lately.]
