[ katniss takes the water gratefully, doesn't respond until she's drunk from it, though she stops herself from really downing it the way that she wants to. too much water after running like she has been, and she'll be sick. she tapers off into sips, eying natasha, a little stiffly but not warily. ]

[ Natasha blinks. Once, then twice, the turn of her wrist dropping slowly back down to her side, like her arm ended up being heavier than expected. ]

[ Her tone ends up being light, mild. ]

[ (She's being facetious.) ]

[ It's said as explanation rather than apology; it's splitting hairs, and Natasha pauses before speaking again. ]

They save people from drowning. It requires a lot of physical stamina. Endurance more than strength, though that's important too.

[ She gestures, almost idly, at Katniss. The water bottle, the track she's been running. ]

[ once it's explained, she gets it. would even have laughed a little, maybe, if she'd known enough not to be confused the first time. but then again maybe not. she's not great at jokes. ]

[ is her return explanation. it's not the whole truth, but it's true enough. it's the reason she's giving herself for pushing this way. ]
