If you want blood, you got it.
CHARACTERS: Roxanne & Megamind [closed]
LOCATION: Her room
WARNINGS: Injury, blood.
SUMMARY: Roxanne gets fairly pummeled by Kara at Megamind's urging. Bad boyfriend, bad. He patches her up.
NOTES: Before the fear toxin plot but after the fight club.
Roxanne had taken Megamind's advice.
Now -- to be perfectly fair, she is an incredibly intelligent woman and certainly knows sarcasm when she hears it. However, it seemed a good opportunity to both let off some steam, prove to him why he was being an idiot, and get in a few good hits on a woman that had nearly killed the man she loved.
Roxanne had come out of it thoroughly defeated but with a newfound respect and grudging understanding of Kara Thrace. However, she had also come out of it incredibly bloody and not just a tad embarrassed, but it had been worth it in the long run.
Trudging back to her room, she's feeling -- oddly triumphant somehow, but sore and hurting and bleeding.

...until the door slide open.
"Finally made it ba-- Schrodinger's Cat, Roxanne, what happened to you?" The cat was shooed, his digitized book tossed as he scrambled off the bed to get up to reach for her. "Who did it? I'll teach them to mess with a villain's lady!"

"You know, I ought to kill you myself." She says this with a small amount of dry humor, but really -- she should throttle him for his little suggestion. Go play with Kara, Roxanne.

He tries to slip past her, to go get some basic first aid supplies, more than a little bit frantic.

However, she does have something to say before he flees the room to the med bay.
“You told me to go play with Kara Thrace,” she reminds him, eyes flashing a little. “So I did.”
no subject
"I cannot believe you took that seriously," he mutters as he gets in the door. "Roxanne, that wasn't serious and you know it. I spoke to Kirk-- Natasha, Re-l, they could teach you -- without making you look like hamburger, too, I bet! Those are serious ideas! Kara Thrace was sarcasm."
Now sit still, woman, so he can fuss.

“Pick, Megamind. One or the other – can’t be pissed at me for both.” So she might have done it to prove…something to him, but she doesn’t regret it. Kara may have pounded her into the ground but Roxanne had a pretty good feeling she’d at least earned a bit of respect from the younger blond.

He palmed his face, exhaling sharply as he dragged his fingers down, trying to reign in his frayed temper. Seriously, Roxanne.
no subject
"Look -- I just..." She shifted, and tries not to look upset. "I just wanted you to do it, okay? And then you refused and it made me mad. I know it was sarcastic I'm not a stupid woman."
no subject
And to him that's what it means; that he'd be hurting her! She shouldn't have to fight! To beat people up! She's a bystander. She's not suppoesd to get hurt, ever! Those are the rules. But he can't enforce them here. Nobody is afraid of him here.
no subject
"Look. Can we compromise? Maybe? You teach me a few base moves, and I'll go around and learn a few tricks from other people, too. Is that fair?"
no subject
"Fine," he said. "I'll do that. But you have to go to Natasha and Re-L after. Promise you will?" He wants her to be safe-- but he doesn't want to be the one that roughs her up to get her there. It's just so-- anathema to everything they've established about each other.
no subject
"Fix me up?"
no subject
"This," he said, "is going to sting a bit."
And it did. More than a little. It was going to take time to baby every cut and abrasion, every little bruise that his mind demanded they see to. But his touch was deft and his hand was-- well, after the first flinch or three, more certain than it had been.
"Is it because we're-- ah, together? Is that why you want me to teach you?" he asks, as they work through it. "I-- just don't understand. I'm used to fighting knowing I'm going to lose. I mean, I learned--to fight. I did. I just--"
Don't like it. No, scratch that. He loved it. The chaos of the fray, the adrenaline, each bone jarring hit, whether he delivered it or recieved it. It was all part of the game. He did love, on some level, getting his butt kicked. Not the loss, but the combat junkie adrenaline, the thrill of the risk --
--but he couldn't translate that into teaching her. Didn't want to, certainly. He knew that it was probably abnormal behavior, even if he didn't know if it was for his people or not. For all he knew, on his home world kids had signed up for MMA at age six.

She shrugs, looking a little embarrassed. "Part of it was just...getting you to say yes."
Even if he didn't want to.
no subject
"So you wanted to see if -- would go outside my comfort zone for you?" he asked, as he dabbed at a scrape. "Testing me?" He didn't know how that worked; but then, he'd never done this before. It was all new territory, and every time he did something, he wondered if it was the right thing to do.
no subject
She winced at the dab, but doesn't jerk away.
"I'm sorry. I shouldn't have pushed so hard when all I really wanted was just a compromise."
no subject
And then he sighs. IT's as done with it as he cn get. Couple of bits of gauze tapped in place, some bandaids for her knuckles, and-- well, that's the best he can do.
no subject
"...Thanks. For...bending a little, and patching me up, too."
no subject
"I'm going to -- go get us something to drink," he says. "Stay put. I'll take the supplie we didn't use back as well." More likely, he needed some space, and-- way from her roughed up face.
He didn't realize caring about someone would-- lead to feeling like this, to have his chest tight and his heart clench at the thought of their pain...

It' not on purpose, not really-- but he has to get away and think. So he takes things back, then swings by the kitchen and gets sodas from the fridge (he has no idea what they are, but they seem to be carbonated beverages that aren't liquor, so-- hey, roll of the dice) before he takes his time getting back from there.
Sadly, he has no personal answers for anything by the time he's back, and give up on it for now. He isn't anymore prepared to deal with empathy now then when he left her. Empathy's a little bit scary.
"Here you are," he says, offering a bottle.
no subject
Damn her impulsiveness. It had gotten her into trouble more often than not.
"...Thanks." She takes it, looking down at it for a moment before twisting the top off.
"I'm sorry."
no subject
"It's okay," he says. "We'll just-- go forward. With no beatings from Kara Thrace."
no subject
"Sounds like a deal." No more beatings, and a little more give. She could work with that.
