SEC HQ
[ She's a hard worker, this one. When she's on shift, if she's not out actively patrolling, she's here, doing her best to keep her own 'paper'work filed, and maybe working on some of the backlog, too. Edgeworth's desk is still piled up and it grows every day. It's the least she can do, right? Sometimes she's just here on break, leafing through a book she's found in the library (although most of it goes right over her head, considering it all references things she has no idea about) or she's watching an episode of All My Universes on her comm. Isadora is crazy, isn't she!? ]


Oxygen Gardens/9th floor Kitchens
[ Running helps her keep her mind clear. It was one of the things she did back home when she was having a rough time with things, and here it provides her with a strange sense of comfort. A forest is a forest, even if the terrain is completely different. She does her best to stick to the main paths while she jogs, trying not to get in the way of anyone working or otherwise out. When she's done, she heads to the kitchens for a bottle of water, sitting on the counter and drinking it with her eyes closed. She needs to go to the showers next, but the breather is nice. So she's savoring it. ]

[ Best friend!! ] He better not be. And if he tries, I'll make sure he can't do it again. [ Allison sits back, and grins at Lydia. ]

He's sharing a room at Eichen House all his own. [ Satisfied smile. ] Overdue, if you ask me.

[overdraws]

Far overdue. [ She returns the smile. ] So -- the star map. Who's that guy you're working on it with again?

[immuno]

Fitz?

[ She looks genuinely confused by the shift, and Allison's curiosity. ]

Just some engineering officer.

[overdraws]

[ She wants off the subject of Peter Hale. The less time thinking about him, the better. Speak of the devil, and all that. Lydia's love life is the perfect distraction. Allison grins just a tiny bit, and asks before taking another bite of her salad. ] Is he cute?

[immuno]

You think Isaac Lahey is cute. [ Lydia says it like an accusation, pursuing her lips. ] There's no accounting for taste.

[overdraws]

[ B|!!! Rude. ] I'm not asking if I think he's cute, I'm asking if you do.

[immuno]

He's socially awkward, he looks like he hasn't seen the sun in literal years, and he wears grandpa sweaters. [ Lydia scoffs. ] You might as well ask if I think Stiles is cute. At least I can count how long it's been since Stiles participated in physical activity.

[overdraws]

[ Allison stills for a brief nanosecond at the mention of Stiles being cute and pushes on. ] That's too bad. About your partner, I mean. You don't really meet people who are as smart as you, let alone guys.

[immuno]

Which would be a problem, if I were interested in spending more than a few solid hours with one. [ Said with an air of nonchalance. She smiles, reaching out to touch her friend's shoulder. ] Allison. And I can't believe I'm the one saying this, but ... I'm not sure now's a good time to be starting anything. I know you have your little ... thing with Sirius and Isaac, and that's fine, but if I'm going to be stuck in space, I'm going to stay focused on the parts I can't get plenty of back home. [ Dick. She's talking about the amount of dick she can get back home. Delicately. ]

[overdraws]

[ Allison actually looks slightly horrified at the idea she has a thing with Sirius, and even starts to try and defend herself from that, uh, total and complete misunderstanding, but thinks better of it. Because she gets what Lydia's talking about, and she's not surprised. ] Right. I just—

[ And she pauses, trying to think of how to word it. ] I want you to be happy. And if that means not starting anything, I understand. [ She puts her hand over Lydia's on her shoulders. ] I also won't judge you if you focus on things you can find at home, even if it's just for a few hours.

[ Allison is also talking about dick. Delicately. ]

[immuno]

[ Watching Allison now, Lydia softens somewhat. A blink, and she drums up a smile, nodding her understanding. A beat passes, and she sighs, waving her fork absently and admitting, ] I guess he wouldn't be my last choice. But he'd hardly be my first. [ She stabs the fork into her salad, giving Allison a look of "srsly bro" and then taking a judgy bite. ]

[overdraws]

Who would be your first? [ Allison asks, taking her own bite. There's a serious lack of pretty boys with no brains and high cheekbones on the ship, after all. ]

[immuno]

I don't know. [ She taps her fingers to her chin, thoughtful. ]

[overdraws]

Sirius?

[immuno]

He's your complication, not mine.

[overdraws]

[ Dammit. She'd ask about Stiles, but she knows that answer already. ] I could set you up with one of the SEC guys.

[immuno]

Your set-ups haven't historically worked out for me. Winter formal? [ Stiles was a literal train wreck. Better as a best friend. ]

[overdraws]

[ SPOKEN LIKE A TRUE BELIEVER: ] You two were cute together.

[immuno]

You should see him with Malia. You'd be nauseated.

[overdraws]

[ She does not look like something punched her in the gut. For once she's actually really good at hiding it because that's something else she doesn't want to talk about. She grins. ] Good. He deserves to be happy just as much as you do.

[immuno]

It's not what I would call happy, but he seems to be. [ The face she makes says that is a damn weird relationship but whatever. It apparently works for them. ]

[overdraws]

Just because his definition of a successful relationship isn't the same as yours doesn't mean it's not successful. [ Allison's turn to point her fork at Lydia. ] You and Jackson fought all the time, and you were happy with him.

[immuno]

[ Lydia dodges Allison's gaze at that. Jackson is a subject she hasn't touched on in a long time. But she does finally feel secure in admitting, ] Jackson and I loved each other. [ She wants to start there, in case there was ever doubt. ] But we weren't happy.

[overdraws]

[ That admission clearly surprises Allison. ] I'm sorry to hear that.

[ And it's genuine. ] You guys always—usually looked happy.

[ Granted, towards the end, not so much. And Allison will be the first to jump aboard the Jackson is a Tool train for how he treated Lydia while he was the kamina. But she was there and she saw Lydia bring Jackson back. So she'd just assumed. ]
