SUMMARY: Discovery of the secondary shuttle bay and rescue
NOTES: March 30 onwards.
The doors are torn open as you arrive, metal ripped back like the skin of a fruit. Improvised barricades of tools and carts, shuttle pieces stand as obstacles to be carefully climbed through before you can stand in the shuttle bay itself. The space is vast, flashlight beams penetrating only a certain distance into the dark, but enough to sweep the floor, find the scattered, gored remains of at least three human bodies. The ship stands as the only complete vessel in sight - or, at least, it was. Windows smashed, the hull torn at, access doors ripped open. The inside empty. The shuttle bay is silent. But is that the silence of a catastrophe already passed, or of someone hiding, holding their breath? |
DEAN, SAM, BLAKE, SELINA, ALLISON, BUCKY, GOGO, KENNEX, ETC. | NPC RESCUE

He doesn't appreciate the sight of the damage, nor does he like the idea of carrying Selina into another bad situation, but they've come this far together, and if they're getting home in one piece, it means they'd better go back together.
Edging along the wall, he lets the majority of the people in the group pass, lingering anxiously several feet from the door. ]
This looks like the place.
[His voice is quiet; the last thing he wants is to attract the attention of some lingering monster. ]

One hand grips a flashlight, the other his gun, crossed at the wrists and lifting up before him to survey the area as he edges in. The beam of his maglite catches something shiny, something bright, and it's not hard to follow that trail toward it's cause, it's blood clinging to the lifeless remains of three human bodies.
A frown tugs at his lips. ]
Ready or not, it looks like we mighta missed the party...
[ He mutters unhappily, mostly directed at himself and slightly Allison, though his voice carries in the silence of the room. Footsteps crunch on grains and gravels of broken glass and debris from the destroyed ship. ]
Not sure if this is a rescue mission or a funeral anymore.

Dean takes point, and he's moving along the outskirts of the group after, footfalls quiet and sure despite the glass, rifle raised. The light on the barrel is swallowed by the vast dark ahead. ]
Started with fourteen.
[ So, three down. (Eleven to go.)
A flash of metal catches the light ahead. The broadside of a shuttle. ]

As Dean moves forward, Sam stays in the rear, effectively keeping the group between them, being a lookout near the back while his brother scouts on ahead in case he needs to warn them of dangers creeping up from behind them.]
Keep looking. We need to make sure.
[Because coming all this way just to find a pile of bodies would be...he didn't even really want to accept it.]

[Still, she wasn't one for giving up, or even looking at the downside of things.]
Positive thoughts. Some of them could be hiding.
[She chimed in as she followed after them, following the same general path as 'Davis' since he seemed to have the best luck with not getting horribly injured. She swung her visor down on her helmet and the light flicked on, panning around wherever she turned her head.]

[ John doesn't think it hurts to remind any of them that. The people they're looking to rescue have had a time of it, and even if they do find anyone living, there's a chance they're going to be jumpy at best, possibly even murderous if they've been cornered enough. ]
Maybe spread out once we get in. Clear in teams, keep in close contact...
[ This is probably going to be a lot harder to execute than Blake's expecting, but at least it's a direction. ]
no subject
[ From the monsters or us, is the implication here. Allison looks up at the others, jaw set. ] We have to hurry.
no subject
She'd made a mistake, coming out here. But she'd never admit it.
Someone at least give her a gun. Please.]
What does it matter? [She asked] if they're dead, we aren't going to fix anything by getting there faster.
Especially if that dog is still on the loose.

[ Which is to say, this doesn't need to turn into an argument. There's already enough to worry about without adding more interpersonal stress to the situation. ]
Everyone ready? Don't think we should linger. Oughta consider leavin' someone here at the door to keep an eye out, though.

A skittering sound starts up behind them, rapidly approaching. It starts from the ground in the hallway behind them, but by the time anyone turns back, the skittering noise has traveled upward and there's nothing waiting for them in the hall.
One short pause later, a monstrous spider-creature—black with a yellow underside—drops down on them, letting out a shrill croaking sound. It looks crafted from some kind of black volcanic rock, scurrying across the floor on five legs and spitting bubbling fluid towards the party. ]
no subject
[Gogo had been rolling ahead of the others as the spider-thing appeared, and she barely managed to backpeddle out of the way as a burst of the bubbling fluid smacked into the deck where she had been.]
Heads up!
[She shouted as she darted back towards the group. It was strange, how calm she felt. Three days ago this would have been terrifying, but after the other things in the darkness, she was almost used to it.]
no subject
They've dealt with a lot of shit over the last 72 hours, but not a lot of it did much skittering. He raises his gun, whirls around to the hallway behind them, and is met with a great big gaping nothing. ]
What the hell--
[ Barely escapes his lips before a giant goddamn spider drops down on them from above, and he's jerking toward Gogo before he can help it. It's pointless, though, she's whirling out of the way before he can get anywhere near her. Once she's clear from the line of fire he doesn't hesitate, just raises his gun and shoots off a quick two rounds toward what looks the most like eyes that he can tell from first glance.
Shoot first ask questions later guys. ]
no subject
She's not prepared for what she sees, though, and Allison has faced down a few scary things in her life (murderous lizard monsters and feral alpha werewolves come to mind) but none of them were giant fuck off spiders. She steels her resolve though, and fires her arrow off at what she presumes to be the eyes, readying another arrow as soon as that one goes flying.
Does anyone have a giant shoe?? ]
no subject
Silence fills the hall for a beat before shouting comes from inside the shuttle bay. The words themselves are indistinguishable from out here, but the voice belongs to a woman. ]
no subject
Instead, he hears the voice of a woman shouting breaking the silence instead.]
There's someone still alive in there.
[Announcing the obvious is his job, apparently, but he takes off in the direction of the noise, assuming the others will follow him.]
no subject
His appreciation is cut short, though, because while he didn't catch the sounds of the woman himself, Sam's words sure as hell grabbed his attention. Trusting his brother's word on the matter he shoots a harried glance back at the rest of the group. ]
Kennex, Allison, stay put, keep your eyes open, if anything else shows up don't chase, just shoot and shout.
[ Someone's gotta guard the exit, after all. Blake can come or not, but since he's got eyes on Selina, Dean's not about to bark out orders there. Instead, he's just sprinting off after Sam to find the source of the voice. ]

no subject
Stay sharp in there. [ It's a late addition, which means he wants to see everyone come back in one piece, thanks. ]
no subject
Great.
[And Allison was right, someone was alive. Also great. In that lovely sarcastic way.]
no subject
Don't! We don't know what's out there! Max!
[ A stubborn and impotent huff follows, and Juri's hands find her hips. She paces away, all-weather boots thudding heavy on the metal floor of the shuttle bay. She scrubs one hand over her mouth, dragging it down. The next words she says are muttered, something more befitting the sour look she wears. ]
Fucking idiots.
[ All of them. The monsters had separated them, true enough, but it was panic that really did the job for them. She leans under a work bench, rifling absently. Clangs of metal fill the air around them. ]
