It's been a rough few weeks before the jump. Not that they seemed to have another kind these days. And there are too damn many kids here stuck going through all of it. So Wash is doing what he can to make sure they have something fun and normal to distract them.

And besides, he'd promised Takeshi and Muscovy a pillow fort, and he wasn't inclined to break a promise. So he's gone up to the upper decks to retrieve pillows and blankets and is setting about building a fort out of them. In the end, he's a big kid at heart. So it's a fairly impressive fort.

Ladies and gentlemen, this is your chief flight officer.

"Okay." She's a good climber so it doesn't take her long.

"Attagirl." He's grown very fond of Newt. Who wouldn't? She's a great kid. Even if playing these games with her does sometimes make him think about everything he'll never have with Emma.

"There should be a strut right nearby." After over a year and a half, he knew the shuttles really well. This was obviously the best use of that knowledge.

She nods. She likes Wash as well. Especially since he takes her seriously.

"This one?" She'll make her way over to the strut. She's getting better at knowing her way around.

"That's the one. It helps stabilize the shuttle if it's flying in an atmosphere." Just because they were playing didn't meant she couldn't learn something in the process. He was never going to avoid teaching a child who wants to learn about shuttles.

"Oh. Okay."

She'll tie the blanket to it and climb down. Landing on her feet.

"Now what?"

"Now we should pile some pillows." It was amazing how many pillows you could come up with when you had hundreds of unoccupied rooms to raid. Clearly another reason to move everyone to the lower levels. It made finding pillows no one would worry about easier.

Newt will start getting pillows from the pile they took from the empty rooms.

"Won't they fall over?"

"Not if we put more on the bottom than the top. It's like building a pyramid." See this is all very educational in addition to fun.
