It's been a rough few weeks before the jump. Not that they seemed to have another kind these days. And there are too damn many kids here stuck going through all of it. So Wash is doing what he can to make sure they have something fun and normal to distract them.

And besides, he'd promised Takeshi and Muscovy a pillow fort, and he wasn't inclined to break a promise. So he's gone up to the upper decks to retrieve pillows and blankets and is setting about building a fort out of them. In the end, he's a big kid at heart. So it's a fairly impressive fort.

Ladies and gentlemen, this is your chief flight officer.

Muscovy would probably agree with that. Personified deaths aren't really new to him, there was one where he was before, but a skeleton that just walks around shouldn't actually be possible.

"I brought two." He gets to his feet, feeling a bit wobbly and disoriented from the sudden change of ...well, general situation, the light is very bright for a moment and such. "If you don't need them any more, we can build another one. Or make it larger."

Wash watches carefully, but the kid seems to get his bearings quickly enough. "We've got lots of room, so we can make it plenty big. Let's get those leaning up against the shuttle over there."

Gavvers had been onto something when he'd used the shuttles last time.

[muscovy]

Muscovy nods and tries to pull the mattresses over, and it becomes rather obvious why he was under them before - he might have the strength to carry them, but he is nowhere near the size or weight where he can really pull them. Or push them, for that matter.

"Here, let me give you a hand with those." Wash picks up one end of a mattress. He was still pretty amazed at how strong the kid is, but of course there are limits.

[muscovy]

"If you take one end, I can take the other." Nodnod. He still wants to be helpful with them, and moves around the mattresses to the opposite end of Wash.

"Okay, on the count of three." Mattresses were just the thing for Takeshi's insistence they make the walls stronger. Obviously the next step up in building materials from pillows. "One, two, three."

[muscovy]

Muscovy lifts his end of the mattress on three, and while there is a bit of a moment where the balance is precarious, he doesn't look troubled once it is up and resting on his hands, pushed up high above his head.

Then he starts to move slowly, one step after the other.

Wash carefully measures his steps to keep pace with tiny little legs. "You think over there by the pillows?" There's one sizable pile that should be obvious.

"Will it hold up there?" He has watched people build things before, but never really been involved with it past being presented with plans that while they looked good meant little to him.
