And we will hold this fort...

CHARACTERS: Wash and OPEN
LOCATION: SHuttlebay
WARNINGS: Are unlikely
SUMMARY: Wash makes good on his promise to help the kids build a pillowfort in the shuttlebay
NOTES: Characters interested in joining Flight are free to use this as an excuse to meet the CFO in the most dignified manner imaginable

It's been a rough few weeks before the jump. Not that they seemed to have another kind these days. And there are too damn many kids here stuck going through all of it. So Wash is doing what he can to make sure they have something fun and normal to distract them.

And besides, he'd promised Takeshi and Muscovy a pillow fort, and he wasn't inclined to break a promise. So he's gone up to the upper decks to retrieve pillows and blankets and is setting about building a fort out of them. In the end, he's a big kid at heart. So it's a fairly impressive fort.

Ladies and gentlemen, this is your chief flight officer.

"I'm usually a pretty fast learner. I can't see this being any different, especially with having a few you on hand who can help me with filling in any blanks. Power, pitch, yaw and roll, once those controls are down pat the rest is easy."

Lee spoke with confidence and enthusiasm. There is a sense of helplessness being trapped on Tranquility and having a way to overcome that is welcomed.

"Whatever you need, let me know. I'm you man." Well. "Besides babysitting. I don't have a heck of a lot of experience with kids and I can already tell you've got me beat there."

"We had a few kids on Galactica. It's a tough place to be for anyone, even with their parents on board. I can't imagine it's better here especially given that most of them are alone. Probably better they have a safe place to hang around and learn while they're at it."

Lee couldn't boast about his skills with children but he wasn't heartless. He knew their lot was a tough one, tougher than most of the adults and that was saying something given how hard things had been for every one Tranquility.

"And I'll get on training ASAP. Shouldn't take long to get the hang of it." Days, at most, honestly. Less if he was throwing himself in for five to ten hours a day, which he would be. "Anything else I should know?"
