TENTH WAVE
CHARACTERS: any and all
LOCATION: Gravity Couches and beyond
WARNINGS: maybe some swearing, or even some violence, and more than likely some implied (and possibly explicit) nakedness.
SUMMARY: Another month, another jump, another round of new faces.
NOTES: Keeping up with the tradition and copy pasted like always from the last one
You wake up in darkness.
There's a breathing tube jammed down your trachea, and you're suspended in a tube of clear blue fluid. Upon registering your level of consciousness, the gravity couch drains the fluid surrounding you and retracts the breathing apparatus; the doors in front of you open, and you're deposited on the floor of a stark, sterile medical bay.
You are not alone.
There are others who have come before you, others who are awakening beside you. Some may be familiar to you, perhaps even friends. Others have much less amiable plans. Some are merely alien and inexplicable, but there are always those who might mean you harm.
After you catch your breath and your vision returns, you notice a number on the inside of your forearm. Maybe it's a familiar number. Maybe it means something. Maybe it's just a number. But the number—completely unique to you—is a tattoo, and it does not come off.
If you enter the room adjacent to the medbay, you will find a small locker with your number on it, surrounded by rows upon rows of identical lockers. Inside, you will find a few of your personal items, a communications device, and a ship's uniform in your exact size. The comms device is fully powered and connects directly to the ship's network; it's your only means of communication beyond physical conversation. Upon turning the device on, a neutral, automated voice will say, "Please take the blue lift to the passenger quarters." Any other attempts at communicating with the rest of the network are met only with static.
This is your welcome party.

amy pond (au) | open;
the only thing that's different this time is what amy finds inside her locker after her shower. it's her clothes from home. of course, they aren't exactly her first choice. she wonders if it's the ships way of torturing her with a mixture of homesickness and utter embarrassment. but she does look better in it than the ship's uniform. that's how she finds herself standing in the locker room wearing a policewoman uniform with some minor changes — skirt well above the knee and fake radio (but the handcuffs are very real). yes, she's aware this isn't what normal police officers wear. feel free to be the hundredth person to inform her, or ask why.
nevermind that, she thinks. this is another chance to find somebody she knows. maybe even rory. ]
HOPE THIS IS OKAY.
He's washed off the blood from his fight before the jump, dressed up with the jumpsuit and his boots, but he's sporting a couple of semi-fresh new bruises on that face and arms. Miles wasn't planning on seeking out Cat, even if that hair is pretty much unmistakable in this crowd. He ends up finding her anyway (so to speak), and he'd actually feel offended if he wasn't just completely perplexed.]
What the fuck-?
COMPLETELY.
Nope. He's talking about her. She's mildly offended now. The deer-caught-in-the-headlights expression fades as she straightens out her posture, bringing her to her full towering height. She pouts her lips a little. ]
What? Have you got a problem?
[ If there's one big, huge difference between her and Cat, then it's their accents. Amy is all Scottish with no hint of a London accent (even if she can do a good impression of one). ]

What's happened to ya?
no subject
Lack of clothes. What's your excuse? Hang on. [ Stay on track, Pond! ] No, sorry, do you know me?
no subject
... Are you fucking around?
no subject
Erm, no... So, I'll try asking you a different way. Do you know somebody named Amy or Cat?
no subject
oh god sorry about the delay
IT'S COOL
What?
<3
[ The biggest (only, really) difference they've been able to find is their accents. ]
no subject
Well - if you're not Cat, then where the hell is she?
no subject
Not sure. She should be around here somewhere. What's your name?
no subject
Miles.

no subject
I guess. How do you know her?

Re: amy pond (au) | open;
What worries her is feeling like she's fighting off a fog just in order to think. Not being quite able to remember what happened the night before. And currently, the fact that she's just spotted Amy Pond wearing one of her kissogram outfits in the locker room. Logic dictates that this Amy has met her before, since River has already experienced Amy meeting her for the first time back when dealing with the Angel in the Byzantium. But that costume... how long did Amy keep that job for after meeting the Doctor again? She can't remember. She's sure if she could think straight she could think of a better way to approach this, but instead she's hovering, waiting for Amy to notice her so she can judge their positions based on Amy's reaction or lack thereof]
no subject
She had felt someone hovering, but people had been doing that lately with her odd choice of clothing and suddenly recognizable face. (Remember when times were easy and no one had her face?) ]
... River?
no subject
Amy, how lovely to see you. Now then, where are we coming from?
[Of course she has her diary with her. It was the first thing she reached for when she found the locker with her number on it. Very considerate, these kidnappers...]
no subject
Where? [ a nervous chuckle as she tucks back some of her hair. ] That's a bit complicated. Though I'll be surprised if it's in that book of yours. It was called Siren's Port.
[ She waits for a response with lifted eyebrows, curious if this was all some sort of predestined future and this was exactly what was supposed to happen.
no subject
Then there's the question of whether she should recognise it, and whether it's worth pretending or not. She thought she knew all of Amy's adventures, she'd been there for so many of them... why doesn't she know about this? Still, probably best to go with the truth for this, while she's still finding her feet here. She looks back up to see Amy waiting for her answer. Best to be casual about this, as if it's not unusual at all for her to apparently be missing part of her mother's life story.]
No, I'm afraid you're right. I've never heard of it before. Let's go back a bit further then.
no subject
So, she takes a deep breath, meeting River's gaze again. Oh boy, this was getting complicated. ]
Before that? Right. Let's see. You were ... Cleopatra? No, wait. Bit too far back. We were underneath Stonehenge investigating the Pandorica.
no subject
Yes, I remember. The fairytale made real... And I remember the business with the wreck of the Byzantium too, so I think that brings us up to date. Is the Doctor here as well?
[It's only from years of practice that she's able to be so casual about that particular question.]
no subject
[ Amy keeps a light mocking tone, but she's not sure how much of a joke it really is. This dimension hopping has been making her go a bit mad. ]
The Doctor? Yeah, he's here. Not exactly on the same timeline as me either.
no subject
Don't worry, they aren't usually known for haunting oxygen gardens. At least, not moreso than anywhere else. You haven't noticed any suspicious statues, have you?
