Those on their way to meet a friend at dinner, or heading to their department, may never reach their intended destination. Instead, characters will find themselves in an unfamiliar part of the ship, abruptly stranded. All attempts to access the elevator will prove fruitless, as the doors cannot be pried open and the lift will not respond when called. It looks like you have no where to go but forward. Hallways will connect only to other hallways, giving you the impression that you're always on your way somewhere- but can't quite manage to arrive. Time spent in the hallways will seem endless, but with luck you may find a break in the monotony. It is possible for characters to find one another, which would be preferable, as it's probably safer traveling in groups. Those that spend an excessive amount of time in their own company will find themselves feeling increasingly hostile and paranoid, until even the walls seem to be watching. That may not be such an exaggeration, with those murals that continually appear... |

[Because she might not be panicking, but she certainly seems frustrated.]
Maybe we should try to find the lifts again. Someone's surely noticed that they're broken. They're probably working on them right now.
[Amazing how he couldn't think of that on his own and just kept wandering around like, to borrow Arthur's word, an idiot.]

If these [holding up her NV.] aren't working, chances are there's a malfunction in the basic systems of the ship. The lifts weren't responding at all.
[Believe her, she tried everything. And by everything, she means she hit the doors and got really frustrated.] I'm just trying to find a room that will open that has a built-in computer system. Something that's not wirelessly connected.
[But don't worry about that brain-fart, Merlin. All it takes is needing to come up with a plan for someone else for those kinds of things to come up.]
The last thing I want to do is wait by doors when there could be another way to a different floor.
no subject
Fair enough.
[Merlin smiles at her determination. It seems to be something she has in spades.]
In that case, mind if I come with you? I've heard that two heads are better than one.
no subject
Yeah, it'd probably be safer too. Just in case.
[She doesn't know if she should expect to face anything in these halls, but she has noticed that feeling of being watched. Like someone's been following her. It could have been Merlin this whole time, but she doubts it.]
Are you armed?
no subject
[Which isn't a very clear or reassuring answer, especially when there doesn't seem to be any sign of a weapon on him.]
What about you? Have you been in many battles?
no subject
[Yeah she's not going to be happy with an answer like that.
But then Annabeth shrugs, unzips her jumpsuit enough to pull out her dagger. She should probably have pulled it out earlier, but she hadn't actually run into anything...yet.]
You mean back home? [She almost wants to laugh.] A few, yeah.
no subject
[Merlin smiles a little, sheepish.]
Can you trust me? I promise that between the two of us, nothing bad will happen.
no subject
[Annabeth gives him a look - her smile dropping a little because she does need to think about that. Trust is a little bit of an issue for her, but there's no reason to think otherwise of Merlin, so eventually she nods.]
Okay. But if you do end up hiding [And the smile's back for the joke.] just let me know.
