Those on their way to meet a friend at dinner, or heading to their department, may never reach their intended destination. Instead, characters will find themselves in an unfamiliar part of the ship, abruptly stranded. All attempts to access the elevator will prove fruitless, as the doors cannot be pried open and the lift will not respond when called. It looks like you have no where to go but forward. Hallways will connect only to other hallways, giving you the impression that you're always on your way somewhere- but can't quite manage to arrive. Time spent in the hallways will seem endless, but with luck you may find a break in the monotony. It is possible for characters to find one another, which would be preferable, as it's probably safer traveling in groups. Those that spend an excessive amount of time in their own company will find themselves feeling increasingly hostile and paranoid, until even the walls seem to be watching. That may not be such an exaggeration, with those murals that continually appear... |

I don't know about that.
[He calls that as he catches sight of Merlin.]

[Merlin's smiling brightly, like he's just been reunited with an old friend, or has suddenly found a way out of the maze of hallways. He hurries in his direction, eyes flicking curiously to the tip of the wand.]
That's handy. More so than the lifts.

[Merlin frowns softly.]
The entire ship could break down and we'd have nowhere to go.

[Merlin takes a deep breath and tries to push it out of his mind. Being lost and alone for this long have just made him morbid. It'll be better now.]
So, would you like to be my fearless leader?
no subject
I think you might be a better choice-- but all right. Shall we?
[He turns back the way he came.]
We could try my elevator again.
no subject
[He hopes.]
Where were you headed before all this happened?

[He looks ten times, a hundred times more worried with that question. There are monsters, bad places on the ship, and the hallways hardly seem hospitable.]
If that dollop-head goes charging into danger-
[Merlin stops right there, sighing. Because that's exactly what he'll do, if there's a way of doing it.]
I have to find a way back before he does something stupid.

[Or maybe they were always there. That idea creeps him out even more.]
no subject
I really don't know. I've only been here for a few months-- perhaps someone who's been here longer can tell you. Frankly, I try not to think on them too often.
no subject
[Especially when they're wandering lost.]
Are you worried about Sirius?

[He's half-teasing, because Merlin has it and he's still lost. Plus he knows plenty of clever, capable people who don't have magic.]
Hang on, I think I heard something.
[Merlin stops abruptly, the words whispered. It takes him a minute to realize that it was only his own stomach rumbling again. He clicks his tongue.]
I wish I'd had a pack from the kitchen instead of medical supplies. I think I've missed a day's worth of meals. Maybe two.
no subject
[He grimaces as he rubs his own stomach.]
I don't suppose you can generate food--?
[He can't, of course, but if anyone could defy the laws of magic it's Merlin.]
no subject
[But there's been lots of spells that didn't work the first time he tried them. Merlin stops, closing his hand and taking a deep breath. The magic inside him surges, seen only in his eyes. And hopefully, his hand. Merlin opens it slowly, stunned and then delighted.]
I did it! Remus, I did it!
[Yes, those whole two blueberries will do them so much good.]
no subject
My god, look at it, it's real! That's brilliant, Merlin!
no subject
[It's more than just modesty, because as his own excitement wanes, Merlin has to wonder just how long would it take him to fill their stomachs blueberry by blueberry. And that's if they stopped walking, which they can't. And if the next time around he didn't end up with bluebells or some kind of poison berries.]
I'm sorry. I don't think my powers are strong enough to do us much good. But I promise once we make it out of here, I'll fix you a real meal. All your favorites! Or the closest thing that the kitchen has to them.
no subject
Only if I can make you your favorite in return. Deal?
[And then, more sincerely:]
It's all right, you know. We'll be fine.
