CHARACTERS: Ensemble production!
LOCATION: The Corridors.
WARNINGS: Space crazy, violence, etc.
SUMMARY: You may have simply been taking the lift with passerbys, but now you're hopelessly lost.
NOTES: Notes on the corridors.

Those on their way to meet a friend at dinner, or heading to their department, may never reach their intended destination. Instead, characters will find themselves in an unfamiliar part of the ship, abruptly stranded. All attempts to access the elevator will prove fruitless, as the doors cannot be pried open and the lift will not respond when called. It looks like you have no where to go but forward. Hallways will connect only to other hallways, giving you the impression that you're always on your way somewhere- but can't quite manage to arrive.

Time spent in the hallways will seem endless, but with luck you may find a break in the monotony. It is possible for characters to find one another, which would be preferable, as it's probably safer traveling in groups. Those that spend an excessive amount of time in their own company will find themselves feeling increasingly hostile and paranoid, until even the walls seem to be watching. That may not be such an exaggeration, with those murals that continually appear...

[ It sounds for a whole second like maybe he's done, he's letting it go, but not so lucky. ]

But a walk with a Victorian lady - that's a thing, right? That's like - that's first base.

No, first base is first base. Besides, she's been married three times. I think "walking" loses its edge somewhere in there.

[ John also doesn't know that much about Victorians -- his family of archaeologists focused on times far before that, and typically on Mars. ]

Really. [ Said in the "that's interesting" way that would probably be offensive if he was saying it directly to Irene. ]

Yeah, well - I'm no historian, but I think she might be interested in more than a walk.

[ He won't include the other things she told him about her marriages. ]

I doubt it. And if she were, I'm not.

[ Not that he wouldn't if things were different -- Irene's very attractive, after all -- but things are what they are. ]

[ That is the most open-ended "or" on the planet, and could pertain to: do you have someone here, do you like men, do you like nobody, is she actually ninety-five years old with a deceptively demure voice, not your type, etc. ]

You remember what you saw in the fog with me?

[ He doesn't mean the blood and the monsters. He means how fast he moved, how strong he was, how a claw could slice through his chest and he'd be healed almost instantly. ]

[ He's half following, buddy, but he might look slightly bemused. ]

Vividly, usually while I'm trying to sleep. Why?

What? What's wh- [ Oh. Oooooh. It takes a second, but he catches on pretty quickly. He didn't date for a while for very vaguely similar reasons, so it's not a difficult leap to make. ]

Wow. Really? It's that much of a - what are we talking here, is this like a Clark Kent in Mallrats level situation, or- ?

[ Well, this is awkward. But Josh is... well, male. He can talk about Tyke to this, to an extent, but after that time he accidentally hit on her... maybe it'll work better, telling Josh. Getting it out. ]

Before I... all of that, I was strong enough to beat a man to death with the butt of a rifle. [ It's not a fun story. ] After...

I broke my door in my sleep. I threw a grown man, well-trained and more bulky than I am, not to mention starting to turn into one of the big ones, up onto a walkway like a frisbee.

[ Don't worry, not even a little bit awkward for Josh, he's used to talking feelings and dating with his boyfrands. Although maybe that just makes it more awkward?? Sorry buddy. ]

So I guess it is that much of a problem. And here I thought growling and the occasional claws were a deal-breaker.

[ Reaper is used to talking about... whores. ]

Faith managed to get me to spar with her, after... the masks. [ There's a pause, like he's going to continue, but instead he shakes his head. It had been bad. Vampire blood needed to heal her bad. ]

[ Oh did he say that he'll just make an awkward face and pretend he didn't, thanks. This is about your problems, not his, ok.

He's clearly waiting for John to finish the thought, but the blanks are pretty easy to fill in when he doesn't. Well, he'd thought they were talking about something not-sparring, but clearly that's not what he's getting at here (probably), but- ]

You can't control it? I mean, I'm not saying I have friends with super-strength, but say I did have one - he can dial it down when he needs to, interact with others without... casualties. [ From his strength, anyway. Not so much his fangs, but different issue. ]

[ Don't think he's going to forget about that, Josh. ]

I'm still working on it. Kind of got it right before I showed up on the ship.

[ Because that's what everyone wants, a Marine with PTSD who suddenly has super abilities suddenly showing up on the spaceship from hell. ]

[ No, seriously, because Reaper is confused. ]

[ Wait now Josh is confused, give him a second. ]

I mean - wait, you mean you got it - like you got super-strength right before you showed up? [ Because he misheard that, but actually, wow, that really sucks. ]

Wow. So that and the ship? Talk about a learning curve. Not that it's not handy for dealing with space monsters, but - that sucks, man.

Not just super strength. Super speed, super reflexes, super senses, super healing... All of it, right before I showed up and in the middle of a crisis situation. I've never had to deal with it outside of one before here.

[ So yeah, definite learning curve. ]

There are perks, but... [ half-shrug. ] It also gets to be a pain in the ass.

Do you know where it came from?

[ His first guess is military experiments, but that seems a bit rude to assume. ]

But I get you. It's amazing how good normalcy looks the second you don't have it. [ Just having the strength and abilities, though - that doesn't sound entirely horrible. At least there's no "want to eat people" catch. Hopefully. ]

Have you tried therapy? Physical therapy, you know, to help you dial it back.

Or whatever manages to pass for normalcy, yeah. [ There's a catch though, Josh. There's always a catch. ]

Been working on it, but not considering how I try not to let people know about it and how so few people have experience with it anyway, it's slow going. Tyke and Quinlan have been helping when they can.

[ WHAT THE HELL MAN that's even weirder than werewolf, come on. And oh shit, Quinlan. Not entirely sure he's the go-to guy for chilling out. ]
