Camping may not be an expected activity on a spaceship, but the gardens are large and have clear, grassy areas for people to gather together. You can help set up tents, inventory supplies or guard the perimeter — just keep an eye out for any strange faces trying to sneak in... |

-- Miss Prim! [ he can't help sounding a little surprised as he calls out. nearly trips over his own feet as he wriggles away from the rest of the crowd, quickly capping his water bottle and trotting over to prim with a wide grin. ] I wasn't aware you'd ended up back here! Have you been safe?

Soysauce! Hello again. [A bit awkwardly, but without any hesitation, she moves forward to give him a light hug. He was so nice to her when she was here before, and she's glad to see him again.]
I woke up here again this month. And yes, I'm staying safe. There's people watching out for me, so don't worry.
[And she's found that she's surprisingly good at taking care of herself, much to her own surprise.]
Have you been okay?
no subject
Been doing alright, I suppose.
[ a sheepish little laugh before he looks at the rest of the crowd around the gardens. ]
I'm sorry you had to return at such a strange time, though. The ship's certainly seen better days, hasn't it? One would think a pirate invasion would entail more whimsy, more fancy swashbuckling, yes?
[ he's going to accompany those last few words with a smarmy wink, yeah. ]
no subject
Do you think they'll end up taking a lot of things? [She doesn't have a lot here, but she definitely doesn't want everyone's supplies and food to end up gone. The thought of slowly starving on a spaceship isn't all that appealing to her.]

[ he answers without thinking at first, before realizing how bleak that must sound. and soysauce quickly backpedals, giving an awkward laugh as he rummages through his pocket. ] Ah! It's nothing too bad so far, though. There are plenty of strong, cunning people here -- we won't let those pirates do too much damage on us. We're too hardy for that!
[ soysauce finally manages to fish a little packages out of his pocket. two cookies wrapped up in a napkin. they're a little crumbly, but still nice enough, and soysauce offers one to prim with a little smile. ] I managed to salvage these while running by a kitchen. Just a little something to help keep spirits up until this all dies down, yes?
no subject
That's terrible, no matter how much was or wasn't taken.
[She realizes that he's holding out a cookie for her to offer, and really can't help but glance at the sweet treat, then back up at him. And then over to the cookie once again, before smiling.]
You don't have to share, you know. But... thank you. [She takes the cookie out of his hand and makes sure to take delicate care of it as she leans in to hug him.]
I never thought of using a cookie to keep my spirits up, but I think you're right. It should work perfectly.
no subject
Aha! But sweets shared with others are always the tastiest, yes? It's never quite as enjoyable to hoard something so delicious just to oneself!
[ and he shoots her a confident grin when he straightens back up, smoothing down the front of his shirt. ]
Besides, it's just a little something to help pass the time until this all blows over. I'm certain we'll pull through alright! Worst comes to worst we can just sneak onto the pirates' ship and steal all our belongings back, yes? An eye for an eye?
no subject
That's not ever the right way to do something.
[But after a few seconds of sounding like his mother, she's smiling once again, and brings the cookie up to her mouth to try a little nibble.]
If they take too much, someone will have to do that. We can't lose everything, it wouldn't be very fair.
[Liking the taste of the cookie, she takes a bigger bite now. She's still not used to getting sweet treats, so her head is swimming with energy.]
no subject
Mmm, I suppose that's true. An eye for an eye all the time, and I suppose a great many people would be left bumbling around blindly? But --
[ and then prim's going to get the brightest, most charming smile he could possibly manage. ]
-- I couldn't possibly let them take so many things from the ship and make you sad, Miss Prim! You're far too pretty to be looking unhappy, and it would break my heart!
[ soysauce laughs as he winks at her. ]
I promise we won't hurt them too badly, though. Just get back what's ours.
no subject
That sounds perfectly fair, promise.
[Another bite of the cookie is taken, and she finds that it's hard to stop munching on something so delicious. She was going to save most of it for later, but that's apparently not going to happen now.]
And really, even though I don't like it when people fight and hurt each other, I know that it has to be done. I'm used to seeing it, but that doesn't make it easy. If the pirates are bad people, then they're going to eventually end up paying for it. That's the way things work.
[There's not a lot of black & white issues in her life, but this is one of them. She truly does believe that bad people eventually get what's coming to them, even if the good people rarely meet an end that they deserve.]
What are you going to do to fill your time while we're waiting for things to go back to normal, though?
no subject
-- ah, to fill the time?
[ a small blink at that last question, and soysauce gives a thoughtful little hum. looking over the rest of the oxygen garden, at the security members milling around and the small stockpile of supplies -- answering slowly, ]
Well, it seems many members of security will be asked to help fetch supplies for a while. The Gardens are the safest place to store supplies, and seeing how most people are camping out here until things die down ... I might have to make quite a few runs back and forth.
[ a small laugh before he adds, ] Not that I can compliain. I'm happy to be of use, and it certainly keeps me busy.
