Camping may not be an expected activity on a spaceship, but the gardens are large and have clear, grassy areas for people to gather together. You can help set up tents, inventory supplies or guard the perimeter — just keep an eye out for any strange faces trying to sneak in... |

He and Katniss don't get along very well, but I think he loves her. Deep, deep down.
[That smile of hers is back, and she motions for Charles to come and sit with them.]
Were you friends with my sister?
no subject
I don't know if she much liked me. I helped her once and talked to her a few times before she was gone.
[ Charles takes a seat next to Primrose and watches Buttercup for a moment before looking back at her. ]
I would have liked to have been friends with her, though.

[She tries to cover for her sister, to make it sound better than it is. But if he helped her and spoke to her, he could probably easily tell there was something a little off, that Katniss wasn't able to fully trust others.]
Buttercup likes you, though.
[See? The cat gives a half-hearted mew and flops his raggedy tail about.]

[ He doesn't dare pet the cat in front of him, however, he offers his hand to him. After all, let the cat decide if he wants to approach. ]
I'll let Buttercup decide. He doesn't seem to hate me, though.
[ He chuckles ]
You're a medic, Primrose?
no subject
A nurse, really. But I was supposed to be a medic out on the battlefield. That counts, don't you think?
[She pauses, and glances over at Buttercup as he slowly is inching his way toward Charles. Whether he likes someone or not, Buttercup is still just as curious as any other cat.]
I definitely don't think he hates you.
no subject
[ Younger than any medics on the battlefield during the wars he's witnessed. Not by much, though, he supposes. He leaves his hand for Buttercup, not daring to withdraw it from the cat, and letting him get used to him. ]

[She focuses her attention on Buttercup now, at how nice he's being and how he's gently sniffing at Charles' hand. It brings a smile to her face, to know that there's someone out there that her cat can make a good first impression with.]
Do you have a job here on the ship?
no subject
[ It takes a very different person to be able to handle the medical field. He's very glad the cat hasn't lashed out at him. He can't be certain why, but perhaps it is his calmer demeanor which is to his advantage. ]
I do. I work in the science department. Genetics, specifically. I spend my time in a lab.
[ He'd be the first to admit it isn't for everyone. ]
no subject
[Well, it's interesting to her. Curious, at least. She stops watching Buttercup now and stares up and over at Charles with great interest.]
Do you ever make new things in your lab? [That question comes out sounding almost fearful or accusatory, so she bites at the inside of her cheek as a silent scold to herself, reminding her that most people here have no idea why she's so paranoid about certain things.]
It's just that where I'm from, the Capitol was able to change things. People and animals, they did it in their labs. They didn't do many good things with it, but I hope that the lab here does.

[ So far, he hasn't noticed anything suspicious with his coworkers, but he stays out of their business, in general. ]
We're nothing like that. We're here to help, not unlike you.
no subject
What kind of things does a geneticist do here? There's a lot of different people here you can study. I thought I might try doing that, to make a book about different species and how to best treat them.
no subject
[ He considers what she said. ]
That would be an extremely useful idea. Not just for you, but for others down in the medical department. They are always in need of information like that.
no subject
Do you think they'd take it seriously? Really seriously? [She has her doubts.]
Maybe once I finish, you could read it and tell me what you think. Help me find any mistakes and tell me if I'm doing it right at all.
no subject
I'd be happy to read over it, though. I'd be honored, even.
