Camping may not be an expected activity on a spaceship, but the gardens are large and have clear, grassy areas for people to gather together. You can help set up tents, inventory supplies or guard the perimeter — just keep an eye out for any strange faces trying to sneak in...

There was something familiar about the man that had approached her. She had her suspicions after York had told her not long ago that Delta had showed up this jump, but it was hard to be sure. There seemed to be no shortage of random AI that had made their appearance on the ship and had to get used to human bodies. She and Church had the benefit of their memories of what being human was like, but they were the exception rather than the rule.

She relaxed her posture only slightly, though her rifle remained in her hands should it become necessary. "Yeah?"

Feeling reassured by the familiarity of her voice, Delta relaxed his own posture with a conscious effort and smiled lightly at her.

"I am glad to see you appear well, Agent Texas. Will you require any assistance with the perimeter?"

That seemed to confirm it and she smirked lightly at him. "I've got this under control. So that's the body they gave you, Delta."

"I am glad to hear it." Not that he was at all surprised; Texas had never been less than competent.

As for his current body, well. Delta raised his eyebrows a little and glanced down. He was tall, awkward-looking, skinny, and nothing at all like Church's body. "I am afraid so. Do you know if it is an arbitrary selection?"

She shrugged. Delta had turned out very different from Church, yet it seemed very fitting that he had been given such an appearance. "Church and I look exactly like we remember. I don't know how it works for the other AIs."

"Understood." So maybe it was random. He'd never really had a human body to remember, after all. Still, Delta shrugged. In the end it was hardly important (unless he could find something in a green color instead of this ridiculous standard issue jumpsuit).

"Have you been here long? York mentioned he has been present for six jumps."

"We haven't been here that long, but it's been long enough," she answered with a sigh. "I don't think we're going to be leaving anytime soon."

Delta nodded. He'd already gathered that there seemed to be no way to leave by choice, though it did happen that people were lost in jumps from time to time.

"Has it been difficult for you? Is there any way I may assist?"

Because, well, everything else aside, he did want to help out the few people he knew on this ship full of strangers.

She raised a brow at the question. "Assist me with what? Security work or...?"

Delta shrugged, a human gesture that seemed to come naturally to him. "In any way you would like. Security analysis. Companionship."

"You can stick around if you want." She nodded in the direction of the makeshift camp. "Is York out there somewhere?" She couldn't imagine the two of them being far from each other.

"He is. We have set up a tent." He gave her the approximate location in case she was interested. and he did seem to take up her offer to stick around for a little while. He was getting tired, but not quite ready for sleep just yet.

"May I say that it is good to see you again?"

A brief smile flickered across her face. "I can say the same thing, D. It's good to have you here. York had been running around, looking all over for you."

"So I have gathered." York had certainly seemed to be happy to see him, anyway, and Delta couldn't deny he felt the same way. Even if this whole business of being human was pretty bizarre.

"I have seen Church and Epsilon as well. Are there any others from our timeline present?"

[ghostthatlingers]

"None that I've seen. If there are any, they haven't made themselves known."

Delta nodded.

"Even so, five is no small number given the apparent total of residents here. I am glad you are among them, Tex. It is good to see you again."

[ghostthatlingers]

She frowned slightly. "Even stranger is that Church and I appeared at the same time."

[alaspooryork]

Delta narrowed his eyes and looked thoughtful for a few moments.

"Were you together before you arrived, and did you come from the same point in time?"

[ghostthatlingers]

She shook her head. "No. He's from farther along than I am and was looking for me before he got here."

Scratch that possible pattern, then. "Epsilon arrived after you?"

[ghostthatlingers]

She nodded. "Yeah, not too long after. Have you seen him around?"

[alaspooryork]

"Yes. He was present at the lockers during my arrival."

Well, everyone had been, apparently, but Epsilon had been the only one he had noticed. Delta hesitated.

"Is he...stable?"

He had Epsilon's word for it, but then, one rarely admitted to one's own faults.

She folded her arms over her chest and shrugged. "I don't know," she replied honestly. "I haven't been around him for extended periods and I don't think Church has either."

[alaspooryork]

Delta nodded, though the answer didn't reassure him.

"I will continue to monitor him, then. His presence was unexpected, though not unwelcome."

How many AI-turned human were there on this ship, anyway? Was this technology common in this time, and if so why hadn't they developed Slipspace travel instead of these strange jumps yet? There was still a lot Delta wanted to know.

"Have you been tracking him?" That wouldn't surprise her and she'd feel a lot better if he was. She was too busy with her patrols to make sure that Epsilon wasn't about to go off the deep end.
