EVENT: ARIMA ▒ APRIL 22-23

SUMMARY: Passengers departing for and arriving by shuttle at the Arima Mining Colony.

You step off of the shuttles into one of the bustling, heavily-guarded docks buried deep within the rock of an asteroid. Everyone seems too wrapped up in their own business to pay much mind to the group pouring out with you, and the mechanical sounds of takeoff, landing, and regular maintenance fill the air with clinks and whirs. As you begin to explore the colony, you find dingy and worn streets filled with a ruckus that's easy to get lost in: pushy merchants, booming, scratchy voices coming from inebriated patrons, and the scurrying footsteps of opportunistic thieves darting through the crowds. The colony no longer seems to profit off its mines, but this waystation for undesirables does have a taste for myriad forms of entertainment.

[the woman moves faster than the oni and her grip is firm on his wrist. his knees want to buckle at the tone of her voice, the edges of his panic attack blooming into something far more immediate and concerning. despite this, stiles twists and throws himself away from her and scrambles to send derek a message.]

[The message is cut short, but he does manage to get that much out before she's twisting his arm up and behind his back in one swift movement.

Her voice is a low growl in his ear:] Now look at what you've done. I told you to relax.

[I've got trouble over here. The telepathic link she shares with her master is helpful. It means she doesn't have to bodily haul him around, or shout and draw more attention.]

You should really take a nap.

[stiles bites back a whimper at the pressure being exerted on his arm, bending his knees slightly to ease the strain. whether he wanted to or not, at this point relaxing is certainly not in the cards for him.

so it surprises him when the bend in his knees goes deeper and his eyes grow heavy as she says the word 'nap'. in less than a minute he's passed out completely in her hold.

he begins to dream...]

[Odessa's grip on his arm relaxes only as he does, and she guides gently down to the floor. She strokes his hair once, a kiss is dropped in the air just over his temple.] Nighty night.

[Standing up, she straightens her shoulders and darts a challenging look around. No other takers? Good.]

Somebody put this trash in the cargo hold! [She's got better things to do.]

[unbalancer]

I got it.

[ She's minding her own captive but Eric has him right now. ] Some people are too curious for their own good.

[treasonista]

[ Her head swivels in Bonnie's direction when she speaks up. At first, she's still keyed up and ready to fight someone, but when she sees who it is, she relaxes, an easy smile sliding in place. ]

It's unfortunate. [ A beat, and a quick shrug of one shoulder. ] For them.

[unbalancer]

I had to practically twist his arm to join us. I thought Eric was going to have to knock him out. Carry him over his shoulder. [ She looks down at Stiles. ] He talks a lot.

[treasonista]

I am surprised he boarded of his own free will, considering. I'm impressed that you talked him into it.

[ Odessa's gaze follows suit and she regards Stiles with a huff of derisive laughter. ] Well, that's not a problem anymore.

[unbalancer]

I can be persuasive.

[ And charming and cute when she's not dark and corrupted. ] No. It's not. I'm Bonnie, by the way.

[treasonista]

[ Yeah, Odessa will definitely like Stiles better when she doesn't have a malevolent force bringing out the absolute worst in her. Even if it wasn't that hard to do. Sorry, Stiles. ]

Odessa. It's a real pleasure, truly. [ She nudges the boy's unconscious form with her toe. ] I trust you don't need any help hauling him?

[unbalancer]

I'm really just going to drag him. If you want to help, you can. Where are you from? [ Casually introducing themselves and having a normal conversation while they move Stiles' body, NBD ]

[treasonista]

[ Odessa can't in good conscience let Bonnie drag Stiles to the cargo area without helping her. Not that Odessa is in possession of a good conscience, but she'll help the other woman anyway. ]

New York City. Did you want to grab his shoulders or shall I? [ NBD. ]

[unbalancer]

[ Much obliged! ]

Can you grab his legs? [ She'll get his shoulders. ] I'm from Virginia. It's ... really nice to hear from someone who knows what New York City is. I've met people from different times and worlds. Try explaining Virginia to a kindergartner.

[treasonista]

[ She doesn't take much care in lifting Stiles, but it's better (for him) than just dragging him along and letting him knock into everything between here and there, so there's that. ]

Cities are easier to explain. Explaining a state within a country within a world would be considerably harder, I imagine. I can't say I've ever been there myself, however.

[unbalancer]

Did you ever make it out of New York? [ What if, oops, Bonnie kind of knocked his head into a doorway? WHOOPS. ]

[treasonista]

[ Oops. Odessa keeps her laugh soft, not that she's concerned about seeming cruel. She did just take down a teenager after all. ]

A couple times. I was born in Texas, and I've been back once. I've seen some of the Midwest. You?

and i'm a horrible person, i love this plot, a play in two acts

[unbalancer]

[ Sidestepping carefully to not... do that again. ] I have family down South? But other than that, I haven't made it out. I grew up there. The town... really loves itself. People don't really get to leave. Only a few end up escaping and most end up making their way back at some point. [ It's kind of like a black hole. ]

horrible persons unite!!

[treasonista]

[ But why? It was so funny the first time! ]

I know that feeling very well. There are just some things, some places, that you can never truly be free from. [ Unless you're kidnapped to space! ]

[unbalancer]

[ It's true... When they move him, they can just drop him somewhere. Is that good enough? ]

Until you end up on the Tranquility.

[treasonista]

[ It had better be, because that's what Odessa does once they've gotten his surprisingly clunky form to the cargo hold. ]

Silver lining?

[unbalancer]

[ Oh. She drops his feet. Eh. A shrug. She drops his head. Looking down, she tilts her head. She kicks him lightly with her foot, nudging him. Nope. He's out. ]

People like the master taking you under his wing. He knows what he's doing. And we're getting out.

[treasonista]

[ With that taken care of, Odessa's quick to close the remaining distance between herself and Bonnie, companionable. Friends move bodies together, right? There's a saying about it even! So it stands to reason they are friends now. ]

It's wonderful, isn't it? Being chosen, escaping. Do you think there's a way back home?

[unbalancer]

[ They can! ]

I think if anyone can find away, it's him. I don't know if wonderful's the word but, this is the first time in a long time that I've felt ... [ soooo ] you know?

[treasonista]

I agree completely. [ Brainwashing is bad, children. ] And even if we don't find a way, at least we won't be trapped. Almost anything's better than that.

[unbalancer]
