SEC HQ
[ She's a hard worker, this one. When she's on shift, if she's not out actively patrolling, she's here, doing her best to keep her own 'paper'work filed, and maybe working on some of the backlog, too. Edgeworth's desk is still piled up and it grows every day. It's the least she can do, right? Sometimes she's just here on break, leafing through a book she's found in the library (although most of it goes right over her head, considering it all references things she has no idea about) or she's watching an episode of All My Universes on her comm. Isadora is crazy, isn't she!? ]


Oxygen Gardens/9th floor Kitchens
[ Running helps her keep her mind clear. It was one of the things she did back home when she was having a rough time with things, and here it provides her with a strange sense of comfort. A forest is a forest, even if the terrain is completely different. She does her best to stick to the main paths while she jogs, trying not to get in the way of anyone working or otherwise out. When she's done, she heads to the kitchens for a bottle of water, sitting on the counter and drinking it with her eyes closed. She needs to go to the showers next, but the breather is nice. So she's savoring it. ]

[ Allison frowns. ] And that's why you need the star map. But what if this isn't our universe? I mean -- [ She takes a bite and finishes it before continuing. ] If it was, you wouldn't need the chart or it at least wouldn't be taking so long. You'd be able to at least figure out something familiar.

[ Allison says this like Lydia knows everything because she firmly believes that Lydia knows everything. The idea that Lydia doesn't know everything is, quite frankly, ludicrous. ] A galaxy or a constellation.

[immuno]

Unless we're in another galaxy. [ She explains simply. ] With the mapping software, I should be able to more easily identify the size and composition of the astronomical figures. If any of them resemble the Milky Way, it'd be a good start. And if not ... well, we got into this universe somehow, I'd certainly hope we could find our way to someone who knows a way out.

[overdraws]

[ Allison chews thoughtfully. And then what Lydia said hit her. ] Wait, you're saying that we might be in a different universe?

[ Allison had meant it offhand, but hadn't actually, well. Considered the possibility. ]

[immuno]

It's the only theory that holds water. There are simply too many divergent timelines and universes represented in the passenger population alone to assume we're in our own, even if it were billions of miles away. Too many iterations of Earth that are near-identical, but not quite.

[overdraws]

[ Allison swallows, and sets her fork down. ] Is that why I'm here?

[immuno]

I don't know.

[ She admits, pressing her lips into a thin line. ]

But it doesn't matter: we're taking you back with us.

[overdraws]

[ Allison takes a deep breath and licks her lips because she's not going to argue this with Lydia. She wouldn't win, and anyway, she doesn't want to. SHe wants to go home. She wants to see her dad and Scott and Beacon Hills again. So when she looks at Lydia again, it's with determination and resolve. ] Good. I don't want to go anywhere else.

[immuno]

Anyway.

[ The seriousness of the conversation is shrugged off easily, and she waves her fork to dismiss it. ]

Even if we can't navigate manually through the system, it's something. It could get us data on the jump itself. The more we understand about what's happening during them, the more information we'll be armed with.

[overdraws]

And the more we can call bullshit on Ward, Resnik and everyone else trying to 'help' us. [ Allison huffs out her nose. ] You know, you'd think the captain of this thing would be more helpful.

[immuno]

I think that depends on what the captain is trying to do. It seems to me that his primary motivation is covering his own ass. That'll make anyone unhelpful.

[overdraws]

[ All the more reason to not like him. ] While he's busy trying to cover his ass, the rest of us are out here trying not to die. Resnik is just as bad. And—[ She points at Lydia with her fork, to emphasize her point. ] Those people with Van Rijn, or however you say it. I'm starting to wonder if they're all in it together and are trying to fake us out.

[immuno]

You know, I think we have some tin foil in the kitchen, if you're feeling like we should be making hats.

[overdraws]

I am not being paranoid. [ Okay she's being a little paranoid. ] I'm just.. frustrated. That I can't figure this out. I don't like that the people that are supposed to be in charge are people I can't trust. I don't like that you and Stiles and Isaac and Malia and Liam and Derek and Cora are all here having to suffer through this, and the people who could fix it are refusing to, essentially. I also don't like that there's other people out there trying to gain our trust and cooperation without offering anything in return.

[ And that was a bit of a rant -- she sighs, and shuts her mouth, reaching up to rub at her forehead. ] I would honestly take Peter Hale's cryptic crap over this any day.

[immuno]

I don't think anyone should like that Liam and Malia are here. Talk about time bombs.

[ Neither of them are great with control, ok, and the ship has a way of exacerbating those issues. But mostly, Lydia would rather offer that reply snappishly than address the fact that Allison just wished Peter Hale aboard after Lydia saw him in a boggart only recently. ]

[overdraws]

[ Allison realizes what she basically said too late and she winces. ] I'm sorry. I didn't—if he shows up, I'll find some way to shove him out the airlock without being found out. I mean that. [ She reaches forward for Lydia's hand. ]

No one needs to be here. That's what I meant. I'm sorry.

[immuno]

You don't have to.

[ She says it simply at first, plain as day, like the topic doesn't affect her. Then she looks up at Allison, gathering her nerve and explains further. ]

We took care of Peter Hale. After you were gone.

[overdraws]

Good. [ She squeezes Lydia's hand. ] What if I want to push him out the airlock anyway?

[immuno]

Then I'd delete the access history before Tyke and the rest of SEC could get their internal affairs investigation going. But he won't be in any position to bother us back home, once we go.

[overdraws]

[ Best friend!! ] He better not be. And if he tries, I'll make sure he can't do it again. [ Allison sits back, and grins at Lydia. ]

[immuno]

He's sharing a room at Eichen House all his own. [ Satisfied smile. ] Overdue, if you ask me.

[overdraws]

Far overdue. [ She returns the smile. ] So -- the star map. Who's that guy you're working on it with again?

[immuno]

Fitz?

[ She looks genuinely confused by the shift, and Allison's curiosity. ]

Just some engineering officer.

[overdraws]

[ She wants off the subject of Peter Hale. The less time thinking about him, the better. Speak of the devil, and all that. Lydia's love life is the perfect distraction. Allison grins just a tiny bit, and asks before taking another bite of her salad. ] Is he cute?

[immuno]

You think Isaac Lahey is cute. [ Lydia says it like an accusation, pursuing her lips. ] There's no accounting for taste.
