SUMMARY: Lilith got a sad photo in her locker, so she and Mordecai meet up to talk about the good old times, the bad old times, and everything else.


It took Mordecai a while to get himself and all his animals cleaned and sorted after the jump, but finally the chickens were in the oxygen gardens, and he was dressed and armed to the teeth just in case he spotted Jack. Mijo was following, this time - every time he landed on Mordecai's shoulder, a hand would come up to sweep him off and force him to perch elsewhere, in an attempt to get the little bird to exercise his flight muscles. Not that it would do much good here, but Mordecai had to do something so the little guy didn't turn into the bloodwing version of a couch potato.

He took a longer walk than needed to get to Lilith's place from the lockers, giving him time to clear his mind from the effects of the jump, but eventually he arrived and knocked at her door.

"Yeah, sure. You want the same?" He gulped down the last of his - chinga, he really had been slower today than usual thanks to that jump - and then got up, ready to dispose of their bottles and get more.

"Yeah, more of the same." She was drinking faster than usual and she knew it, but that wasn't going to deter her.

He returned shortly with another for her, and something a little different for him, some kind of mysterious mixed drink with cola and who knew what, since he felt like he could use the caffeine. He had a sip, and raised his eyebrows a moment because wow, whatever he'd dumped in there had a hell of a kick. "Anyway. Yeah, Pandora's been good to us, hasn't it." In terms of the loot, anyway. What they'd both lost hadn't been the planet's fault.

"Yeah, it has." Though now her interest wasn't in their conversation but was in whatever had got that kind of reaction out of him. She leaned a little closer to peer into his glass. "What's in there?"

"Your guess is as good as mine," he said, sliding the glass toward her. "Have a taste. I think it's kinda like vodka?" By which he meant straight up distilled alcohol with nothing else to get in the way, and he hadn't exactly gone light on the mix.

She had a drink and almost regretted it instantly. She swallow it down, but she had difficulty and stuck her tongue out slightly as she set the glass down. "Not even I burn that much."

He laughed and took it back, and had a gulp. "An' that's why you an' me have survived this long. Apparently I can deal with it." Not that she ever intentionally set him on fire, but, well. Things happened, sometimes. Especially around some of those chemical barrels.

She laughed and popped her beer bottle open. "You do like to live too close to the flames. I'm surprised you don't have more marks from it."

"'S what a shield's for. And I gotta say, Zed may be one crazy putamadre, but his healing stuff works wonders."

"It helps that he's the only real doctor Pandora seems to have. I don't know what they'd do if he left."

"Well, half of 'em would live longer. Might not actually change much," he said, chuckling.

"I don't know if I would go that far."

[idkmybffbloodwing]

"Hey, I'm not sayin' he does a bad job, but he needs an awful lotta 'volunteers' for his side experiments."

"He seems to have moved on to wildlife for that." But who knew how long that would last.

"For now," he said, thinking similarly. Sometimes it was even both, after all.

"You got plans for the rest of the day?"

[idkmybffbloodwing]

"Not really. Why?"

"I was thinking today would be a good day to see if I could drink you under the table." She knew damn well that she couldn't, but that didn't make trying any less fun.

That got a laugh from him, and he tipped his half-empty glass in her direction. "You think so, huh? All right, you're on."

"As long as one of us can shoot straight after this, we'll be fine." They were in a public place, after all. Jack wouldn't dare try anything here. He was too cowardly and worried about his public appearance.

"Hell, you know me. The more I drink, the straighter I shoot," he said with a grin, and had another gulp of his rather potent concoction. By his estimate, there were about four shots in the one glass, so he was already ahead of her.

"You going to mix me one of those?" she asked and pointed at his glass.

"Thought you couldn't handle it," he teased.

"It was strong. I said nothing about not being able to handle it."

[idkmybffbloodwing]

"That's some big talk, Lil," he said, still chuckling. "But if that's what you want so bad, I'll go get you one." He wouldn't mind topping off his glass too, anyway, so he got up and took it with him, and returned with two full glasses of the stuff, one of which he slid toward her as he sat down.
