When you were young and your heart was an open book

CHARACTERS: Megamind, Roxanne, and a myriad of others -visitors, guards, medical personnel.
LOCATION: Medbay
WARNINGS: Possible discussion of gore and injury, death threats, who knows.
SUMMARY: Megamind's in the medbay. So are a lot of other people coming and going.
NOTES: Feel fee to use this as a gathering thread; your character may come for medical treatment- specify if you have an open thread, or if you want to see Megamind or other specific characters (arrange scenes with anyone other than Megamind and Roxanne with the players in question personally, please!)

He was a mess; the bullet missed Megamind's heart, but his body had never been made for the gravity in which it had been raised. His blood pressure elevated, he bled like crazy. After a couple of touch-and-go days, he seemed to even out, though he was low in blood and completely comatose. Without enough blood to run that big brain? Who could say if there'd be brain damage later. With no medical records to compare to, Megamind's condition would remain a question until he opened his eyes and spoke again.

But that doesn't mean he wasn't going to. He was just taking his good sweet time about getting there. Eventually, he would. Someday. Today, maybe. It might be a good day for that...

...here's hoping it was a good day for everybody else.

"I think you're right," John assures him, matching the quiet tone, head only slightly cocked toward the younger man.

"I can only imagine."

Because all John had seen when he'd gone up to take care of some of the injured was the wreckage. The amount of scrap metal, however, was no real joke. The alien must have been scavenging bits and pieces from everywhere, or so it seemed. Sherlock probably would have had something to correct him about on that, but he wasn't here, so John was free to believe what he wished. It didn't change anything anyway.

"What do you think should be done?"

That was what mattered. And while John had his own opinion about it, hearing Jim's was important. The younger man and his partner had adopted some authority over the ship on their own claim - what they decided was likely what would come to pass.

He exhales as his hand drops and his arms fold over his chest. It's less a self encompassing gesture so much as it's Jim trying to focus inward, get his thoughts in order. That was a broad question, after all. It could mean any number of things.

"Punishment, to dissuade other people from trying the same thing," Though even as Jim says it, he knows it's a feeble attempt. He doubts the captain and first officer will leave Megamind or his accomplices in the brig for very long; and it wasn't much incentive to be tossed in there if you were released a month later. "We need to get our security team to do something. We need an operating schedule, so people know they're being watched."

"Someone's due to call for his blood," John notes, although his tone is flat and more of a statement than any sort of opinion one way or the other. "As soon as he's able, you need to put him away in the brig. That's probably the safest option for anyone."

He's silent a moment before he adds, quieter, "Damned if you do, damned if you don't."

His eyes flit over the whole of the clinic, to Ratchet and Helen, before:

"Let's get a drink."

Let's go somewhere quieter. The lift would take a good ten minutes or so to get them moving to the kitchen, and that would be privacy enough.

Jim already knows that'll happen, he's heard whisper of it all over the ship, heard it when people were fighting. But if he wasn't going to let people at the wraith, like hell was he going to let them at Megamind.

He hesitates at the suggestion, his gaze raking the clinic, landing on everyone making their way through getting help. Megamind, his makeshift crew. For a moment, he feels like leaving is like copping out, like maybe he should stay and do more.

But really, what could he do at this point?

"Yeah, okay," He agrees.

John senses that hesitation, and while he doesn't exactly want to leave either, he knows he can do so for a moment, and that he'll be called if he's needed again.

"Won't be long," He assures the other, and it's only a half truth. While John fully intends on returning to his post after this chat... well, there wasn't really anything Kirk could do. He was a captain, not a doctor.

John stepped off of the wall, beginning to lead the way through the locker room toward the lifts. He turned his head just slightly, making sure that the other was coming after him.

Jim followed dutifully, rubbing the back of his neck and shaking his head as thought to clear as the hissing of medbay doors greet and dismiss their exit. He's quiet until they hit the lift, preoccupied with his thoughts. Trying to remember everyone in security, who he and Dean trust, how feasible a schedule would be. If people would agree to it. What to do with Megamind, knowing how he acts well reflect how people treat him, and he already knows there's doubt brewing out there.

He had to be firm, according to the wraith, and while he wasn't really someone Jim wanted to take advice from, he was right. But he wasn't captain here, and if he lost respect then so could his motley crew. Then again, they could always encourage their turning coat on him publicly to keep him in the loop...

But maybe Jim was getting ahead of himself.
