LOCATION: Crane's room
WARNINGS: Crazy
SUMMARY: Crane's door is open for all of his patients.
NOTES: I finally decided I'd throw up a log. TELL HIM YOUR PROBLEMS. PLEASE. EVERYONE.

[ Throughout the day, Crane's door is open. If you decide to walk in you'll see him with a pen and paper, waiting expectantly. He's hear to help your problems, Tranquility. He's here as a shoulder to cry on. ]

[ Crane takes it in. Crane observes everything, though maybe not as well as the Sherlocks aboard the ship he's quite astute and studying body language. It's the first thing he picked up on, first thing he ever truly learned. And Rey is pinging all sorts of interesting. ]

Correct.

[She has a very stiff stature, and it doesn't change even after the realization that she'd come to the right place.]

Good.

Pretty sure I've been meaning to drop by for awhile.

[Rey doesn't move in just yet. Wouldn't want to be presumptuous that he's had time invested in her, now would we?]

I don't believe we've been properly introduced--feel free to take a seat, miss.

[ He motions to the seat, his best smile on. Kind, calm. Even somewhat warm. ]

Negative. We haven't.

[She does so, while sitting with a stiffened posture.]

So, how does this work?

Well, normally you'd give me your name? [ A gentle, slightly teasing smile--he needs no harm, merely testing the waters. ]

[Oh.

[That works.]

It's Rey.

[She doesn't seem to take the teasing personally, which is a plus.]

Alright, Rey. Nice to meet you. [ Head tilts to the side, smile still on. ]

Why don't you tell me a bit about yourself before we start?

Hmm...

[Nothing in return, or any "Nice to meet you, too." She isn't sure if the situation merits it yet.

[She pauses, though. Her eyes narrow, and for a few seconds, she doesn't answer.]

...that's the problem. I'm not entirely sure.

You're not entirely sure?

[She pauses, her lips line.]

There are a lot of things that I don't remember.

Okay, let's start there--what's the last thing you remember?

Hospital.

[The morgue being the most recent thing she can remember. The stuff before that... not so easy to describe. It feels more like a muddled up dream, lost in a fog.]

...I killed someone. He was trying to attack me. So it was okay.

[Rey!Logic. Got to love it.]

[ Iiiinteresting. ]

You don't remember why?

[She shrugs.]

He was crazy. He wore a patient's uniform.

[That's what it looked like, anyway. So obviously, that makes it perfectly all right.]

Well--this is good. This is progress. We can work from there.

[ He scribbles a few things on his pad, tilting his head to the side. ]

So after that, you woke up here?

[Rey nods.]

I think so. After a gunshot went off. The details are hazy.

[If one were the reflective type, she might even have believed that she died.

[She just didn't care.]

[ And that's when Crane straightens, curious. ]

So a gunshot went off... Hnn. Rey, there's a possibility you might have died, are you aware of this?

[She shrugs. Yes, it might have occurred to her before, at some point, but--]

It didn't seem like a big deal.

[ Did she just shrug off the fact that she's dead?

Allow Crane to part his lips, confused, more than a little puzzled. This girl is a definite enigma. ]

It's your life--that's a very, very big deal, Rey.

[She just cocks her head to the side, vaguely just as confused by Crane's statement.]

Why? I am just a number. It even says so, on my arm.

[She puts an emphasis on this fact by rolling up the sleeve of her jumpsuit, revealing her own personal "056" tattoo.]

No, Rey. You're alive--your more than just a number.

..This is what you truly believe?

...I have no reason to believe otherwise.

[She looks marginally confused by what he's saying.]

It's fine, though. I'm okay with it.

[ Here comes the hard question: ]

Why?

[By all means, it should be a hard question. But Rey's prompt reply doesn't treat it as such:]

Because I don't have a purpose, and if I died, no one would feel sad for me.

[It would help if Rey had a basic grasp of what sadness even feels like.]

...You really have no family. [ A statement he wishes her to expound upon, of course. ]
