twenty-sixth jump;

CHARACTERS: Any and all.
LOCATION: Gravity Couches and beyond.
WARNINGS: Maybe some swearing, or even some violence, and more than likely some implied (and possibly explicit) nakedness.
SUMMARY: Another month, another jump, another round of new faces.
NOTES: Your average, run-of-the-mill jump—except some characters don't seem to be waking up from stasis like they should.

Don't worry.

THEY NEEDED THE REST.

You wake up in darkness.

There's a breathing tube jammed down your trachea, and you're suspended in a tube of clear blue fluid. Upon registering your level of consciousness, the gravity couch drains the fluid surrounding you and retracts the breathing apparatus; the doors in front of you open, and you're deposited on the floor of a stark, sterile medical bay.

You are not alone.

There are others who have come before you, others who are awakening beside you. Some may be familiar to you, perhaps even friends. Others have much less amiable plans. Some are merely alien and inexplicable, but there are always those who might mean you harm.

After you catch your breath and your vision returns, you notice a number on the inside of your forearm. Maybe it's a familiar number. Maybe it means something. Maybe it's just a number. But the number—completely unique to you—is a tattoo, and it does not come off.

If you enter the room adjacent to the medbay, you will find a small locker with your number on it, surrounded by rows upon rows of identical lockers. Inside, you will find a few of your personal items, a communications device, and a ship's uniform in your exact size. The comms device is fully powered and connects directly to the ship's network; it's your only means of communication beyond physical conversation. Upon turning the device on, a neutral, automated voice will say, "Please take the blue lift to the passenger quarters." Any other attempts at communicating with the rest of the network are met only with static.

This is your welcome party.

[She laughs and shakes her head.]

I appreciate the honesty. I hate it when everyone says "it's going to be fine" when everyone knows it isn't. [Then her expression returns to serious.]

Is it the same every time? These jumps? And what do you mean, technically third or fourth? Did something happen?

{ooc; I totally blanked on replying last comment, but feel free to go for 4th walling, I am cool with it!]

It's frustrating isn't it? Oh, I--would like to say, "it will be fine" because... I don't know for certain but we've got to keep our spirits up. I'm afraid it's the same and ah, it's 2013 for me. I was here on this ship once before earlier in the year. Last I was home was Bonfire Night. I didn't remember anything all summer and autumn and then... [gestures lightly, shrugging] I was here again.

There's good people here though, I can promise that at least!

[ooc: NO PROB! <3 Thank you! Hahah sorry I hope I didn't overdo it]

2013 for me too. In the autumn. Won't say no to keeping up spirits but it is a lot to take on in such a short amount of time. And still haven't found many answers.

[Her face scrunches.]

People act like I've been here before but I don't remember any of it.

[England nods and shifts weight from one foot to the other, trying to choose the right words.] Admittedly the answers I've been given are more or less a timeline of events that have occurred on board this ship. Someone named ah... Jack Harkness, yes--Captain Harkness--he's not the ship's captain, mind, and he said he was a captain so I'll take his word for it--he and an acquaintance of his have a really useful compilation!

[His next pause is more thoughtful than anything, but also brief.] ... yeah... sounds about right, not remembering. I was here once before but I do remember. People seem to disappear, return to the grav couches or whatever--when they come back sometimes they remember and sometimes they don't.

I think it's got something to do with the way the ship works, but don't quote me on that.
