CHARACTERS: Peggy Carter and YOU
LOCATION: The Oxygen Garden
WARNINGS: None.
SUMMARY: Peggy is exploring the ship and comes across the oxygen garden.
NOTES: Basically an open post for new and old CR. Gimme it~
It wasn't her intention to go to the oxygen garden but somehow, Peggy had ended up in the area and she was fascinated by it. The room reminded her of botanical gardens she had been to when she was a young girl back home, except this was much more technologically advanced. She knew the function of the area by reading a guide but in a way, she still wanted to see it for herself. It made her think about the future; not that she would be around of course but even so. Is that what the people of the future would construct? Peggy could only speculate.
As she walked around the room, her thoughts drifted to Steve and how his arrival seemed to have change things for her. Peggy thought that he was dead and seeing him was such a shock, then a relief. Perhaps it was selfish of her to want to have him here, especially considering how dangerous the ship could be, but a part of her was glad because she got to see Steve again.
Anyone who comes across Peggy now will find her deep in thought.

He wedged the pencil he had been drawing with into the crease of his sketchpad and closed it up as he stood, towering above the plants. But he didn't want to sneak up on her, especially as it was easy to tell she was deep in her own thoughts, lost to the world.
Steve cleared his throat, nothing harsh, just a gentle noise to announce his presence and pull her back to him.
no subject
"Hello, Steve." she said finally, giving his hand a squeeze. "Have you been here long?"
no subject
"Peggy," he said in turn, attempting to sound casual and failing miserably. "An hour or so. I find it's easy to lose track of time here."
no subject
"I know. You can get so caught up in looking at everything," she replied, glancing down at the pad in his hand. "Did you draw much?"
no subject
"It's beautiful here," he added, because he had thought it often, and it's what continued to bring him back. "Do you want to look?" He didn't show his art to many people, Bucky was more or less the only one who he really dared to, because he never saw it as much of a big deal.
no subject
"It really is. Alive and vibrant. A contrast to the cold appearance of the ship." Seeing something that grew and added colour was good in her mind. "Please, yes. I haven't really seen much of your art." The opportunity never really presented itself back home and now she was able to.

Well, Peggy, you are about to have your feet pounced on by a small charcoal colored kitten, who promptly attempts to 'kill' your shoes.
An exasperated Alex comes jogging over soon after, an apologetic look on his face. He's in his blue and yellow modified-flight suit; something he doesn't really take off now, unless he's in his room.
"Sorry about that--damn kitten has always liked shoes, and I still can't brake him of the habit."
no subject
That thought is diverted when she sees someone coming towards her..someone who seems oddly familiar. Peggy could have sworn she spoke to him before after a jump but she isn't entirely sure.
Peggy waves it off. "It's fine. He's just playing, the dear thing. What is his name?"
no subject
"I usually keep him on a leash, but he managed to slip it."
It was the one thing Alex had to worry about, here; he didn't want to keep him cooped up in his room, all day, but at the same time, if Bozo bolted, it was going to be damn hard to find him again.
no subject
"He probably just wants to explore."
She had a cat once back home when she was little and Peggy remembered that her mother always had to go looking for the tiny creature because it liked going around the house a lot.
"Have we met before?" Peggy asked, her gaze falling to him again.
no subject
He gave a shrug, then a sigh when Peggy asked the question, allowing her to pet the kitten as much as she wanted to (Bozo seemed to like it).
"No. But you probably met the other Alex. He um--he's been here for a while, I guess? I'm from an alternate timeline." He shook his head. "...yeah, I know that doesn't make much sense. Sorry."
no subject
"Ah, yes. I met him when he first arrived." He didn't trust her at first and after she had explained where he was, he seemed to have accepted it. "No, it actually does make sense. From being here, I've seen and heard a lot of interesting things. What you have just told me is entirely possible."
She smiled at him. "I'm Peggy by the way. Peggy Carter. It's nice to meet you."

Perhaps one would call it meditating. Clearing her mind of things wasn't terribly difficult for her. Sometimes, it came as instinct: How she sits cross-legged, hands over her knees, back arched and neck craned slightly upward. Eyes closed. Mind opened.
She listens. A song plays on in her head, backwards and forwards, and existing constant.
Until there's the sound of footsteps wandering here, and she tilts her head towards the ruffling. Brows furrowed, eyes still closed...
Who is there?
no subject
After a moment, she pauses, thinking that she heard something as Peggy looks around cautiously and on guard.
"Hello?"
no subject
Since the jump, Rey's ongoing silence had been a ritual. She had no reason to talk to people, and people had no reason to talk to her. It was useless. Purposeless. That's what she ever is and will be.
Whether or not if she's with purpose now, or something else that's been summoned with the song stuck in her head, she finally makes an exception -- and speaks:
"Here."
no subject
Upon hearing a reply, she moves towards the source and stops when she sees another woman sitting on the ground.
"Oh. I didn't know anyone else was in here. Sorry."
no subject
"No big deal." Hearing her own voice again is strange. It's like listening to a complete stranger speak, and the sound alone is enough to rattle her for a moment.
It's my fault.
no subject
"I'm Peggy. Hello." It's said in a warm and a friendly tone, her stance relaxed and open. "Lovely to meet you."

This place was no Golden Wood. The plants lived, but they did not thrum with life like the mallorns do.
Aragorn had been here for a few hours now, walking through the rows, trying to find the athelas that will aid him greatly here. When he saw her approaching, he straightened slightly. She walked with the carriage of a person used to battles, and yet she seemed to wear no Dernhelm-guise.
"'Tis a strange place," he said, voice low.
no subject
"In some ways it is, yes," Peggy responded, her tone quiet and curious at the same time. "This whole ship is strange," she added. Even though she had gotten used to the functions of the ship, the technology was far removed from what she was used to back home.

He'd been seated on the bench that he'd found for a while by the point that the woman wandered into the area of the garden that he'd selected for his personal brooding spot. Sitting up a bit straighter and plastering a smile on his face, he looked up at her.
"Sorry," he said casually. "If I'm in your spot, I can move."
no subject
There was another smile. "It reminds me a little of the botanical gardens I visited when I was a young girl. Only much bigger and so much more advanced in technology. It fascinates me."
no subject
He stood up and held out a hand to shake hers. "Captain Jack Harkness," he said, with all the confidence and military precision required while still maintaining the casual, flirting nonchalance that was so utterly Jack.
no subject
Peggy accepted the hand, shaking it firmly and politely. "It's lovely to meet you, Captain Harkness. My name is Peggy Carter." She had noticed the way he spoke and handled himself, feeling that he may have been in the military. The title alone was a bit of a give away. Peggy also noticed the flirtatious tone in his voice.
no subject
He looks around at the oxygen garden. "At least there are places like this. Not quite your average English garden, but unless you're familiar with submarines or cargo planes, this place must be quite a shock."
