twenty-eighth jump;
CHARACTERS: Any and all.
LOCATION: Gravity Couches and beyond.
WARNINGS: Maybe some swearing, or even some violence, and more than likely some implied (and possibly explicit) nakedness.
SUMMARY: Another month, another jump, another round of new faces.
NOTES: It could just be the standard sensation of air on wet skin, but if you bother to check, you might notice the steam rising from your body, barely there and gone within a minute. By the time you get to the showers, it will be clear that it's not just taking you time to adjust. The room is cold — colder than usual, but no worse than the last jump. While it's nothing dangerous, it's certainly motivation to hurry through the usual routine and get dressed quickly.
It's getting closer.

YOUR EYES ARE OPEN.
KEEP LOOKING.
You wake up in darkness.
There's a breathing tube jammed down your trachea, and you're suspended in a tube of clear blue fluid. Upon registering your level of consciousness, the gravity couch drains the fluid surrounding you and retracts the breathing apparatus; the doors in front of you open, and you're deposited on the floor of a stark, sterile medical bay.
You are not alone.
There are others who have come before you, others who are awakening beside you. Some may be familiar to you, perhaps even friends. Others have much less amiable plans. Some are merely alien and inexplicable, but there are always those who might mean you harm.
After you catch your breath and your vision returns, you notice a number on the inside of your forearm. Maybe it's a familiar number. Maybe it means something. Maybe it's just a number. But the number—completely unique to you—is a tattoo, and it does not come off.
If you enter the room adjacent to the medbay, you will find a small locker with your number on it, surrounded by rows upon rows of identical lockers. Inside, you will find a few of your personal items, a communications device, and a ship's uniform in your exact size. The comms device is fully powered and connects directly to the ship's network; it's your only means of communication beyond physical conversation. Upon turning the device on, a neutral, automated voice will say, "Please take the blue lift to the passenger quarters." Any other attempts at communicating with the rest of the network are met only with static.
This is your welcome party.

are they? that's what i get for ragequitting that ep before the end, whoops. IGNORE THAT THEN
I don't know, I've always known him to come in right when I need him.
[ elena's tone is icy, her posture just riding the line of aggressive. she doesn't like that katherine's here, and she doesn't like talking about jeremy with her. probably she shouldn't have said anything at all, but... well, she wouldn't have wanted to go through her first jump without a familiar face. ]
Have you been told what's going on here, where you are? I can give you the rundown if you haven't.
I'm 99.99% sure Katherine got rid of those like right away
[ She's a bit annoyed, actually, since she has already gotten rid of the problem that is Elena Gilbert. This just complicates things. ]
Apparently we're captive in a spooky spaceship and we don't know where we go. Also people come from different points in time. That said, when are you from? I bet we're probably not for the same time considering you're not trying to break my neck.
tbh i kind of gave up in the middle of 512 and i think katherine still had the red then XD sorry!
if klaus shows up next jump, elena knows exactly who she's going to blame. ]
Yes and yes. We're on a ship called Tranquility and it -- or a rogue AI inside it, we don't really know -- is trying to kill us, so. Have fun with that.
[ elena pauses then, her eyes narrowed at katherine for a moment. for some reason, she doesn't want to tell her when she's from, and with katherine, elena thinks following her instincts is probably the right way to go. ]
Who's to say I'm not just biding my time, Katherine? Damon, Jenna, Ric, Caroline, and Tyler are all here. I bet we could put you down if we tried hard enough.
no subject
She smiles at her, unnervingly so, quite possibly. ]
You don't bid your time, Elena. You're all too gushy and feely for that sort of thing. Besides, you just told me of everyone that is here. [ She shrugs. ]
We're all locked in this stupid ship, Elena. There's nothing to gain out of deceiving you. I know you don't trust me, so I guess time will tell.
no subject
Maybe I'm so pissed at you I'll start biding my time. You don't know me, Katherine, or what I'm capable of.
[ maybe it's the failed mutiny, or the jump being even crappier than usual. whatever it is, elena's sounding more hostile and, perhaps, more intimidating than usual. ]
You don't need anything to gain. You deceive people just for the fun of it.
While we're talking, let's get one thing straight. [ the veins under elena's eyes ripple black, and for a moment, her eyes fill with blood. it won't scare katherine, of course it won't, but a little emphasis can't hurt. ] If you touch Jenna or Ric, I will kill you. I don't care what humanity might be lingering in that shriveled black heart of yours, my family is off-limits. Understood?
