ELEVENTH WAVE
CHARACTERS: any and all
LOCATION: Gravity Couches and beyond
WARNINGS: maybe some swearing, or even some violence, and more than likely some implied (and possibly explicit) nakedness.
SUMMARY: Another month, another jump, another round of new faces.
NOTES: Keeping up with the tradition and copy pasted like always from the last one
You wake up in darkness.
There's a breathing tube jammed down your trachea, and you're suspended in a tube of clear blue fluid. Upon registering your level of consciousness, the gravity couch drains the fluid surrounding you and retracts the breathing apparatus; the doors in front of you open, and you're deposited on the floor of a stark, sterile medical bay.
You are not alone.
There are others who have come before you, others who are awakening beside you. Some may be familiar to you, perhaps even friends. Others have much less amiable plans. Some are merely alien and inexplicable, but there are always those who might mean you harm.
After you catch your breath and your vision returns, you notice a number on the inside of your forearm. Maybe it's a familiar number. Maybe it means something. Maybe it's just a number. But the number—completely unique to you—is a tattoo, and it does not come off.
If you enter the room adjacent to the medbay, you will find a small locker with your number on it, surrounded by rows upon rows of identical lockers. Inside, you will find a few of your personal items, a communications device, and a ship's uniform in your exact size. The comms device is fully powered and connects directly to the ship's network; it's your only means of communication beyond physical conversation. Upon turning the device on, a neutral, automated voice will say, "Please take the blue lift to the passenger quarters." Any other attempts at communicating with the rest of the network are met only with static.
This is your welcome party.

Seems like that's the routine. I need to check for the rest of my team but that won't take long. I could help you find the showers and lockers, and maybe meet you back there after?

[ have a weak laugh but the amusement is kind of shaky because of his own shakiness. ]
Mostly I just need to be pointed the right way. Glad I brought my cane, honestly.
[ a shrug, he feels bad for keeping her. if he wasn't so... useless, he could've done this all by himself. like a normal human being. of course he's not going to tell her that, just draw himself up and take a breath -- the tenseness fading from him and his smile coming more natural now. ]

My first jump, I was a mess. It took both Jack and Ianto to coax me up off the floor next to my pod and convince me to go clean up. Honestly? I'd probably be a lot more of a mess right now if I didn't have other priorities, you know?

Alright, alright. I'll go with you. Thanks, Toshiko. I'll get better at this -- really.

Meet you at the lockers? In case you want someone to make sure they didn't put a mousetrap or a box of tacks in yours. I think there's ultimately some sense to this place, but I think also think it's trying awfully hard to convince us there isn't.

I can pretty much agree with you there. I highly doubt the mouse trap or tacks but it might help to have a second look. [ a beat ] Or well, a first look.

[ This is definitely going better than her first jump. Of course, this time she didn't wake up in a place she didn't recognize wondering why the hell she was bathing in slime -- same amount of slime, less wondering where it came from. ]
