You're not feeling too well. The last couple of days have been - rough. The medbay seems to be a bit more full than usual, but you're sure it's nothing to be worried about; whatever the illness is, it'll go away once you've rested and gotten a check-up. Right?

[soothing]

Don't mention it.

[ It's good to stay hydrated either way. Best to take a drink now instead of putting it off. ]

Probably not, with all that's been going on. I'm Elizabeth Ross.

[ There's a soft smile to accompany the introduction. ]

[stimulations]

It's a pleasure to meet you, Ms. Ross. Though the situation could be better. [A pause, a glance around the medbay.] In a wide variety of different ways.

[soothing]

You too -- though yes, I agree. [ There's a sigh. She's not sure she wants to talk about it right now. ] Do you do any sort of volunteering like this back home?

[stimulations]

No. No volunteering at all, I'm afraid.

[Though he supposes he could consider some of his 'work' to be a matter of public service - not that it was a topic that was safe to bring up. Limited to the life of the St. John heir, though, volunteering for anything was strictly off limits.]

There isn't really room for it in my lifestyle.

[soothing]

That's too bad. [ Though she laughs slightly, ducking her head. ] Not that I have much time for it either, in between work in the lab and grading things.

[ She doesn't know Josias's background, but her own is fairly open -- and a matter of public record, back home. ]

[stimulations]

You're a scientist, then? A teacher?

[Maybe so much should have been obvious, with her presence in the medbay, but considering his own lack of medical knowledge, he hadn't wanted to assume on any of the others.]

[soothing]

I teach cellular biology at Culver University in Virginia.

[ And here there's a pause. ] Of course, that's assuming you're from Earth and know where Virginia is -- if not, please don't worry about it.

[stimulations]

I do. [A smile and a nod. He can understand her feeling the need to make that kind of disclaimer.] Well, I don't know where it is exactly. American geography was never a priority.

[soothing]

You've heard of it, at least. [ Her smile's a bit relieved despite her disclaimer. ] Despite my curiosity about other worlds and species, it's a relief when people know something similar to what I'm used to.

[stimulations]

I can understand that. [Considering he hasn't met anyone, so far, that shares his expectations of technology or seems to have any experience with anything resembling the virtual. Still, his curiosity has always been strong, and on the ship, it's definitely overpowered any homesickness for the familiar. So far, at least.] It makes for some very interesting conversations, though.

[soothing]

It definitely does. Though I'm not certain many people are up to talking too much, now. [ And now back to a slight frown. Bruce is sick as well, laid up in bed, and when she's not helping around medical she's sitting with him. ]
