He came back for Charles, but the telepath had already been rescued by Kirk and the others, and Erik had made the trip back there for nothing, when Raven was gone and so was Charles. Every step throughout the city made him feel uneasy, unwilling to move forward, but there were still a few to make sure made it back with him, and Alex was at the top of the list, perhaps the only person to even go back to.

Keeping the helmet on, Erik looks every inch the threat he was back on Cuba, ignoring the passerby and doing his best to shove them out of the way. Were he anymore capable, he would have killed them all, but even now on this particular outpost Erik was still hampered by the fact that space considerably weakened him more than it should have.

They may not have been on the best of terms, but Erik wasn't inclined to push it either way; Alex was still one of them, a mutant that deserved to be saved from the outcome of the entire situation. He ran following the men and women heading in the opposite direction, ignoring the fact that clearly Erik was making a mistake like this, but Alex was anything but.

Erik runs because there's no need to stay here longer than he should, hands curling into fists and angry as it gets that Alex managed to land himself in trouble, and he nearly misses the younger mutant the first time. Runs and almost hits him, coming to a stop and reaching out for Alex by his arms in an effort to hold him in place.

"Alex!"

When Alex's arm is grabbed he nearly sends a blast of plasma shooting into the face attached to that hand--but at the last second he realized it was Erik and flung his arm out and away, sending the shot of plasma into the wall near Erik's head.

"Damn it, Erik!" He was breathing hard, scared that he almost took the other mutant's head off. "What are you doing here? You need to--we need to get out."

The thought that Erik might have come back for him didn't even process through his brain, yet.

He wasn’t as out of it as Alex may have been, and it would have been Erik’s own instincts that saved him, but such as it was, the fact that Alex had restrained himself in such an immediate situation would be something Erik would look forward to. Fingers gripping around Alex's wrist, he focuses on steadying the mutant, keeping his attention on Erik.

"I'm getting you out," he answers swiftly, frustration evident in his tone and the way he moved, tugging Alex along with him instead of waiting to see if the younger mutant was okay. They could deal with words and safety later, but right now Alex warranted getting away from the internment systems in place.

"....you came back?" Alex's eyes widened at that Erik's comment, as if he was surprised that it happened, as the pieces finally fell into place. He couldn't deny the surprise--while he was a mutant, Erik had been more than willing to leave an injured Charles on the beach, that day. Why wouldn't he leave a stupid young mutant in a place that probably freaked him the fuck out?

Shaking his head, he nodded. "Fine fine--we just need to get going. They weren't far behind me." He pulled his hand away, and started running.
