The corridor stretches on before you. THIS WAY ☺, the farthest wall says, before turning into a darkness you haven't explored before. Perhaps now's a good time to consult that map. |

Glancing at Finnick, he arched an eyebrow before shaking his head.]
Not exactly. In this instance my telepathy would allow me to keep tabs on you without having to be in constant visual or vocal contact.
I'm Charles by the way, Charles Xavier. I'm not sure we've met, Mr...?
no subject
Will we be able to hear you when you do?
[ Directing his attention towards Charles, it was a curious inquiry more than anything. ]
no subject
[God sorry Charles it's not like he's ever met a telepath before. Any concern isn't really siren-ing off in his mind at the moment; he's just curious.
Peter's already on the question he would have asked, so he lets him go.]
no subject
Extending a hand towards Finnick, he gave a genuine, if tense due to the situation, smile.]
A pleasure to meet you, Mr. Odair.
[His eyes moved over to Peter at the question.]
In my experience, no. Only if I speak to you or otherwise make my presence deliberately known. At least that is how it was back on Earth. I have since met many species and people who are gifted in various ways and could pick up when I touched their minds.
no subject
Really, Charles? He cast a side long glance towards the younger mutant, raising an eyebrow at the sudden fact that Charles had openly discussed his ability to the others. Though he had been prone to doing that, and had already done so around as a means of threatening men like Nathan Petrelli, Charles had deliberately wavered and it seemed unfortunate that he had come to openly do this. ]
But that being said, not all of us are going in blind. [ For as vulnerable as Erik was right now, uncoordinated as it got, his mutation had still been functional. There were brief moments Charles was well aware of but beyond them, he'd shrug past it, his attention solely on Raven in her bed, waiting for the two of them to come back with a cure meant to save her. ]
Charles is keeping all of you in line, [ Which is unexpected coming from Erik, but he knows his own limits, knows that there's a good chance he won't be making it through. Charles is the leader here, Erik is merely the most familiar with the surroundings. ] and I'd prefer if none of you question him.
The map is a loose guide, but we're there to manage through the maze and find a cure for your friends that are still sick. You follow me, and you stick together. I have no intention of retreating back for any stragglers.
[ Though even as Erik says this, it's obvious he's meant to pull them in line; Erik will keep them all together. ]
Peter if you don't mind, I think you can benefit from my mutation out of everyone right now.
no subject
I thought we were all just working together, not taking orders from anyone.
[ Because that isn't why she joined a group - there's simply strength in numbers. While she does understand that a team needs a kind of leader, the position isn't one you claim yourself, and in her opinion, it has to be shared. ]
no subject
Got it.
[ Moving the rest of the way forward through the group, still wary of even potentially brushing past someone and acquiring an ability he shouldn't, he only stopped to shoot a look to the woman who'd spoken up again, offerring a shrug. ] We are working together, but there's nothing wrong with someone taking the lead. Would've happened eventually.
[ Especially when a good percentage of them could barely even walk in a straight line to begin with, the idea of a maze sounded daunting at best. But it wasn't a choice anymore when peoples lives were on the line. Peter just wasn't thinking about the fact that it was likely that his was as well.
Turning back ahead, he looked towards Erik once more and found his way up next to him, taking a second to trade a significant glance that meant nothing more than an acknowledgement of how awful they both felt, before simply holding out his hand as if to be shaken. ] Think i'd take yours over everyone else's too.
no subject
Peter's right. To split up independently here would mean we run less of a chance at succeeding than we would together.
[ Pulling himself away from Charles, Erik offers out a hand, allowing Peter to grab it. Though he's never seen how well the other man manages abilities like this, part of him trudges through feeling ill for a moment of curiosity. ]
You're about to get a crash course in learning to use my ability - think the fine line between rage and serenity. [ This last portion is spoken with a brief smile towards Charles, the one man who had helped him to truly harness his mutation more than Shaw himself. ]
I don't think there's anything else that remains?
no subject
At least he knows what Erik's ability is, Peter's just hoping that means it won't catch him entirely off guard when he tries to use it. ]
I didn't even know there was a fine line between rage and serenity. [ Glancing back over towards Charles as if the other man would provide answers, Peter looks at Erik once more before looking back towards the group. ]
Think we're ready?

[Angel had missed out on the touching training montage with the X-people thanks to being otherwise engaged at the time. But given Magneto and Charles had been the ones to round up their little supergroup in the first place both here and back in reality, she wasn't about to start wondering if they knew how to handle their powers or how to lead now. The Alex's and a confined space like they were in was slightly more worrying, but he (they?) had managed on the beach. No point in getting worked up over it now, or over the unknown abilities of the new members of the group. Not when it looked like they were all going to start dropping like flies if they waited too much longer.]
no subject
It's only when things seem to finally be winding up, his patience worn as thin as it can get, that he finally speaks up.]
Pick a fucking direction and start moving. [Yes, Lehnsherr, that pissed off look is directed at you.]
no subject
This group was going to fall the fuck apart before it even got started. But, really, what else could he do--he would stick with them, and when things got bad enough, he trusted Charles to get them back to the medbay, somehow.
Looking over at the blond girl who spoke, he snorted.]
This isn't some damn drum circle where we're trying to hold hands. Even if we're working together, somehow has to lead. So if shit hits the fan [and it will, Alex has been through too much lately to know it won't] we don't all act like idiots.
[He adjusts the new attachments on his wrist--they look like rectangles cartridges, with three holes on the front ends. The trigger is near his thumb in each hand...hopefully they will continue to work like Isaac planned. As he had tested.]
I suggest Alex cover the back, I cover the front.
[With Alex's larger blast radius, covering the back if something was coming after them was the best use of his powers. Havok, with his now more tightened plasma streams could focus frontwards.
But neither of them should be in the middle of the group.
That was a stupid idea, no matter how much control they had.]
no subject
Considering none of them really looked like they wanted to be doing this in the first place, and half of them looked like they were seconds away from keeling over onto the floor - Peter included - it was their best bet if they started to go now. Not that they needed to rush through this thing either, but everything else had to be put aside when peoples lives were on the line. That was why they were doing this, it was why they would get to the end, and it was why they would come back.
Because they didn't have a choice. ]
Come on up here and we can finally get moving, then. Have to start sooner or later.
[ Pressing his fingers to eyes as the world seemingly took a second to sway, Peter centered himself by heaving for a breath and staring at the floor. Goddamn immune system, but there was no use in complaining. ] Charles, you got the map?
no subject
Stepping around the German, Charles began to walk towards the mouth of the corridor, nodding to Havok to move up towards point before he looked over to Peter and held up his device.]
Right here.
[Over his shoulder he said in a slightly louder tone.]
Wesley and Peter are right, we need to get moving. Angel would you also take point with Havok.
[It was a border line order, couched in a hint of a question. Charles knew what her abilities were and having her clear to use her wings and acid spit on anything coming at them, just seemed the smart move.]
no subject
They could probably do this without him, but Erik had already made a few promises and he wasn't about to renege on them any time soon. ]
Havok. Angel. Let's go, you're up front with me.
[ The others could sort themselves out as it came down to it, but Erik wasn't inclined to waste any time as he deliberately moved into the maze, his inability to stick to a straight line now evident to anyone. Embarrassment could come later, but Erik couldn't care less, his own determination overriding everything else.
The hallways on their own were barely anything noticeable, the same crisp metal that pervaded the rest of the ship and Erik paid them no mind, aside from the initial note pinned to the entrance. He'd expect Charles to stop him should he make the wrong turn and with Angel and Havok up front, they'd be well protected against any danger that may creep up on them. ]
no subject
[Being up front served a dual purpose--it kept him in direct fire to anything that was coming towards them, and second, he could keep an eye on Erik. Not that he thought the mutant was going to do anything devious--but considering how sick he looked, at least there would be someone big enough to catch him if he went down.
Looking over at Angel, he gave her a bit of a smirk.]
Just watch where you spit, hmm?
[He moved forward, giving the others a quick nod.]
