CHARACTERS: EVERYONE
LOCATION: MED BAY
WARNINGS: ... Partial nudity? It should be pretty tame, but let me know if I need to add anything.
SUMMARY: Side-effects of a jump may include disorientation and temporary memory loss. Fortunately, there are a handful of others who have been through this before.
NOTES: Yes, it's a rehashing of the game premise. Don't worry, you can personalize your own (re-)introduction!

You wake up, alone in the dark.

There's a breathing tube jammed down your trachea, and you're suspended in a tube of clear blue fluid. Upon registering your level of consciousness, the gravity couch drains the fluid surrounding you and retracts the breathing apparatus; the doors in front of you open, and you're deposited on the floor of a stark, sterile medical bay.

Don't worry, you are not alone. There are others who have come before you, others who are awakening beside you. Some may be familiar to you, perhaps even friends. They will help you through your disorientation, even though they might suffer from it too.

After you catch your breath and your vision returns, you notice a number on the inside of your forearm. Maybe it's a familiar number. Maybe it means something. Maybe it's just a number. But the number—completely unique to you—is a tattoo, and it does not come off.

If you enter the room adjacent to the medbay, you will find a small locker with your number on it, surrounded by rows upon rows of identical lockers. Inside, you will find a few of your personal items, a communications device, and a ship's uniform in your exact size. The comms device is fully powered and connects directly to the ship's network; it's your only means of communication beyond physical conversation. Upon turning the device on, a neutral, automated voice will say, "Please take the blue lift to the passenger quarters." Any other attempts at communicating with the rest of the network are met only with static.

This is your welcome party.

"Sherlock Holmes. None with whom I'm personally familiar," he responds immediately, narrowing his eyes in the slightest. "A small handful of those who are... something similar." But that's not what she's curious about. The start when she first saw him, the scrutiny, the recognition that was gone after the initial regard for him.

"Ah, you know the other man. We could pass as twins, were I to change my grooming."

"So you have met," she says, confirming his deductions with a nod. "How did he react to you?"

Her guess is not terribly well, but it could really go either way in Tony's case. She's not mentioning the fact that there's another that goes by the name of Sherlock Holmes quite yet, since she's not as familiar with him.

It's honestly a bit of a relief. Holmes had done enough struggling with the possibility of there being another man, exactly like him, in this very place. Same name, same methods, same- damn army doctor. Every time it was brought up was a whole new and refreshing reveal of the thought process all over again. Natasha not knowing him is welcoming.

His eyes narrow for a moment, considering. "Territorially," he finally decides on a word, carefully adjusting the robe over his injured shoulder and pausing to address the topic. Yes, the strong stance, the wary regard; he hadn't been happy about the idea. But then the idea was in and of itself jarring. Holmes had held witness to too many surprises today. "He's far too comfortable with himself to be so unseated."

"That sounds about right," she says dryly, accompanied with a nod of her head. "But he'll likely still be interested in you." 'If you're anything like your counterpart' goes unsaid, since it could be for any number of reasons and because she could be referring to either Tony or the younger Sherlock, or both.

"Of course he will." Holmes says this in the hopes - and maybe the beginnings of realization - that the man who looks like him will similarly hold his interest. The idea is certainly - worrying? Of potential use? He hasn't fully analyzed the situation yet. "I'm merely hoping he'll at least be half as interesting as I am."
