CHARACTERS: EVERYONE
LOCATION: MED BAY
WARNINGS: ... Partial nudity? It should be pretty tame, but let me know if I need to add anything.
SUMMARY: Side-effects of a jump may include disorientation and temporary memory loss. Fortunately, there are a handful of others who have been through this before.
NOTES: Yes, it's a rehashing of the game premise. Don't worry, you can personalize your own (re-)introduction!

You wake up, alone in the dark.

There's a breathing tube jammed down your trachea, and you're suspended in a tube of clear blue fluid. Upon registering your level of consciousness, the gravity couch drains the fluid surrounding you and retracts the breathing apparatus; the doors in front of you open, and you're deposited on the floor of a stark, sterile medical bay.

Don't worry, you are not alone. There are others who have come before you, others who are awakening beside you. Some may be familiar to you, perhaps even friends. They will help you through your disorientation, even though they might suffer from it too.

After you catch your breath and your vision returns, you notice a number on the inside of your forearm. Maybe it's a familiar number. Maybe it means something. Maybe it's just a number. But the number—completely unique to you—is a tattoo, and it does not come off.

If you enter the room adjacent to the medbay, you will find a small locker with your number on it, surrounded by rows upon rows of identical lockers. Inside, you will find a few of your personal items, a communications device, and a ship's uniform in your exact size. The comms device is fully powered and connects directly to the ship's network; it's your only means of communication beyond physical conversation. Upon turning the device on, a neutral, automated voice will say, "Please take the blue lift to the passenger quarters." Any other attempts at communicating with the rest of the network are met only with static.

This is your welcome party.

Really, he hadn't any intention of saying anything. Just like the rest of them, he doubted the- wraith was it?- was having much fun with these grav couches. Plus, he wasn't human, like those things were made for, so undoubtedly he was having as much fun with them as Spock or Shikozu were.

And he honestly, honestly would have kept his mouth shut.

But then that look.

It's too fucking easy.

"Alright there, buddy?" Though it soudned like a tease, he was curious. The guy looked even more foul than he normally did.

It's a gesture he's seen before, but Jim attributes it to his bad attitude this time around, reaching into the locker to pull out his clothing. Where the wraith looks uncomfortable, Jim doesn't seem bothered by his nudity at all.

He might actually glory in it.

"Well as one can be being born again," He says, and winks, totally unnecessarily. Still, he nods at the man's arm. "Might wanna have that looked at."

He doesn't know what the mark is for, even if he noticed it beforehand, but it didn't look too happy in that moment.

"Ha ha," He shoots back, though he has the distinct impression it's not that much of a joke to this guy. Jim hasn't quite figured out what his sense of humor is supposed to be, precisely.

Either way he shrugs when the guy turns his hand away. Whether it was embarrassment, the lack of wanting to explain, or just hiding the injury (they weren't exactly friends after all), Jim had made his point: that he was more observant than he looked. That, and the last thing he needed was someone who had agreed to run this crazy idea with him to come down with something so silly as an infection. "You can say hi to Watson for me when you go."
