CHARACTERS: EVERYONE
LOCATION: MED BAY
WARNINGS: ... Partial nudity? It should be pretty tame, but let me know if I need to add anything.
SUMMARY: Side-effects of a jump may include disorientation and temporary memory loss. Fortunately, there are a handful of others who have been through this before.
NOTES: Yes, it's a rehashing of the game premise. Don't worry, you can personalize your own (re-)introduction!

You wake up, alone in the dark.

There's a breathing tube jammed down your trachea, and you're suspended in a tube of clear blue fluid. Upon registering your level of consciousness, the gravity couch drains the fluid surrounding you and retracts the breathing apparatus; the doors in front of you open, and you're deposited on the floor of a stark, sterile medical bay.

Don't worry, you are not alone. There are others who have come before you, others who are awakening beside you. Some may be familiar to you, perhaps even friends. They will help you through your disorientation, even though they might suffer from it too.

After you catch your breath and your vision returns, you notice a number on the inside of your forearm. Maybe it's a familiar number. Maybe it means something. Maybe it's just a number. But the number—completely unique to you—is a tattoo, and it does not come off.

If you enter the room adjacent to the medbay, you will find a small locker with your number on it, surrounded by rows upon rows of identical lockers. Inside, you will find a few of your personal items, a communications device, and a ship's uniform in your exact size. The comms device is fully powered and connects directly to the ship's network; it's your only means of communication beyond physical conversation. Upon turning the device on, a neutral, automated voice will say, "Please take the blue lift to the passenger quarters." Any other attempts at communicating with the rest of the network are met only with static.

This is your welcome party.

Taking that as a sign that she wanted him to lead her there (that wasn't a sign, John, that was not a sign), he shut his own locker. He then took her by the elbow and counted down at the lockers, ticking off his fingers by the hundreds.

"I think it's really moving. There is something really great about Bill Murray's acting. I would want an autographed poster from him, too."

Bizarre. There was no other word for this than bizarre.

"Well, yeah -- he's the star. He makes it work, right?"

Reporter face. Keep the reporter face on, and all will be well.

"Is this one mine?" She pauses, tapping the metal of the door.

"Yeah, I think so. And, did you see the way he beats all those ghosts? It was like PEW PEW, but not literally, because they do the other thing. It was really cool. All the ghosts are super cool. Did you see that one? Oh, man, he was so cool. I want a poster of him, but I'm not sure if they make posters of him completely on there..." John stood in front of her locker expectantly, with both the expectancy that she'd open it, and the expectancy that she would love Ghostbusters 2 as much as it deserved to be loved.

"I did see it, yes."

She nudged past him, smiling as she opened the locker to examine its contents. Nothing but the jumpsuit.

She pulls it out with a little frown, and turns.

And -- sees someone incredibly familiar.

"John -- I'm sorry to cut this short, but I just spotted someone from my home. If -- you'll excuse me? We can continue our chat about Ghostbusters and other 80s flicks later, if you like."

"Okay!" He raised his hand and waved cheerfully. "I'll be here if you need me! Maybe my friends are here, and also people who need help? But you can call me if you need help too." He seemed cheerful about the thought of flicks, but a little abstract with some thought about something else.

But he waved, turned, and disappeared into the crowd again.
