CHARACTERS: EVERYONE
LOCATION: MED BAY
WARNINGS: ... Partial nudity? It should be pretty tame, but let me know if I need to add anything.
SUMMARY: Side-effects of a jump may include disorientation and temporary memory loss. Fortunately, there are a handful of others who have been through this before.
NOTES: Yes, it's a rehashing of the game premise. Don't worry, you can personalize your own (re-)introduction!

You wake up, alone in the dark.

There's a breathing tube jammed down your trachea, and you're suspended in a tube of clear blue fluid. Upon registering your level of consciousness, the gravity couch drains the fluid surrounding you and retracts the breathing apparatus; the doors in front of you open, and you're deposited on the floor of a stark, sterile medical bay.

Don't worry, you are not alone. There are others who have come before you, others who are awakening beside you. Some may be familiar to you, perhaps even friends. They will help you through your disorientation, even though they might suffer from it too.

After you catch your breath and your vision returns, you notice a number on the inside of your forearm. Maybe it's a familiar number. Maybe it means something. Maybe it's just a number. But the number—completely unique to you—is a tattoo, and it does not come off.

If you enter the room adjacent to the medbay, you will find a small locker with your number on it, surrounded by rows upon rows of identical lockers. Inside, you will find a few of your personal items, a communications device, and a ship's uniform in your exact size. The comms device is fully powered and connects directly to the ship's network; it's your only means of communication beyond physical conversation. Upon turning the device on, a neutral, automated voice will say, "Please take the blue lift to the passenger quarters." Any other attempts at communicating with the rest of the network are met only with static.

This is your welcome party.

"No, she's my daughter. We are very close, even though I haven't seen her since I've been in jail. But it was a great to be reunited with her, and you were also there? But it was a different one." He looked at her with great sympathy for not understand the familial bonds. He also patted his wallet reassuringly, as if to tell Casey that he was there for her and all her salamander needs. John rarely made sense, but he was already leaving the Nick Cage station for another tendril of thought.

"You weren't waiting for me long, right? I told you I'd go with you and everything..." He took her hand without any particular thought, though his face said something about mixed guilt and unhappiness at the thought of going back on his word.

Jade just stared as he talked, smiling and nodding. She knew John was silly, but this was even more absurd than usual. That's okay, though - it's just how he is. And the happiness she feels at his arrival far surpasses any confusion.

"I have been here for a month, actually! With Dave and some of the trolls." In an attempt to be reassuring, she squeezes his hand. "It's not your fault that I got here first, so don't worry!"

"Okay... But next time, I'll be here firster and then I'll wait for you to come and it'll be okay." He grinned a little sheepishly, suddenly aware that he was blabbering on nervously. He wasn't really sure which trolls she was talking about, since he only really knew Karkat and Vriska and possibly Terezi and possibly even more possibly Gamzee and Tavros, but it was really unlikely that any of them would be on the ship. He hoped that Karkat was, though, since he was really smart and angry. And Vriska, because they had been talking.

"I hope it was okay to leave you with Dave and you didn't get all caught up in possibly marrying him or anything. It must've been really awkward!" As if he wasn't making it even more awkward. But he didn't seem to notice, beaming on her once again.

"What? Why would I marry Dave?" Her brow furrows in confusion. That's not something she had even considered in her time aboard the ship. Dave had been kind to her, as he always was, but nothing out of the ordinary. "Don't tell me you actually believe in Karkat's stupid shipping chart!" If only her patron troll were actually here so she could reprimand him for that in person.

Trying to move on from the subject, she shrugs. "I think it would be better to hope that we never end up back here. We have a lot of important things to do back in the game!"
